Out of curiosity..

Do you really think what we think we would "want" in spouse right now are going to remain true throughout our entire married life, or even in our "search"? :)

From my experience (seeing other people get hooked and married), it seems to generally happen that you end up loving/marrying/God "sets you up" with someone that didn't meet what you were looking for. Different interests, different ... different whatevers. Hehe. Techie people with totally non-techie people, for instance.

(Slightly off topic, but I was curious :D)

Hey we need to rely on God to indeed "set us up" and to do so as He has the person that He wants us to have an relationship with. For His purpose and plan in our lives.

I'm worth a lot... I want a lady who's trying to be perfect. :D (Sorry, I'm just referencing another topic.)

I guess the sort of unique thing I like in a lady is when she likes outdoors types of stuff, but still acts like a lady. It's sort of hard to explain in words.

I just pray that my spouse would never loose his sense of humor. Being able to laugh at ourselves, our trials and situations will help us to cope with them (I least I think so).

Just last week some nut broke into my car and tried to steal my CD payer, causeing over $500 in damages. I was HOT beyond belief! Until I noticed that they took the book that my old CD player came it (thinking it was something nice). The didn't realize that inside was my old factory cassette player which is probably worth -$50. LOL ^_^

Being able to laugh at that helped me cope.

My point was basically that, sure, we might have what we think we want.

But if we start ruling people out based on that... well we should be careful. I'd hate to see someone rule out who God actually wanted because they really wanted a spouse with blue eyes and were convinced they wouldn't be happy with a brown-eyed one. Silly example, but the point is there. Don't place too much emphasis on what you want at this moment. :)

Is Christian :holy: (it is hard when I see cute possibly non- Christians though)
Is a little sensitive to my sensitivity!
Nice eyes! I tend to like, dark blue or green eyes, piercing eyes.
Nice smile, straight teeth
Creative (since I am not really), so I admire somewhat who can learn an instrument or can draw.
Isn't a big shot with money, I don't care if I have to buy stuff from a thrift store (it's more unique that way too!)
Likes computer stuff :sorry:
Is a nerd in someway (like I like retro stuff and maybe he likes old video consoles too)
Has a bit of a sarcastic humour, then we will laugh at the same things which will be good when things go wrong.

And the standard:

Honest
Kind
Trustworthy
Deep
Gives good hugs

Wow, I am blushing now

Hm. So on the assumption he's a great Christian person living for Christ etc., I'm just going to list what traits I think - and I'll stress I think - would be difficult to not see in the person I make my vows to in the name of God. But hey, who am I to put conditions on the gift I'm asking for?:p

Anyway, here goes. I'm looking for someone who:
  • Is assertive (I'm rather standoffish)
  • Can carry a good conversation.
  • Likes to debate and isn't easily offended.
  • Can goof around unabashedly
  • Is patient (I can't stand when folks get worked up)
  • Doesn't raise his voice in anything but good fun.
  • Can keep up in a good exchange of wit
  • Has a gentle, generous spirit
  • Finds joy in charity work and giving
  • Isn't afraid to say when they may need to better themselves, and then take the actions necessary to grow
  • Doesn't have conditional kindness and love to those around him
  • Enjoys sharing daily Bible studies and devotionals for consistent joint growth in the Lord.
  • Knows the day doesn't end with the sun, but rather when everyone is on good terms and the vital "I love you's" have been said.
  • Thinks forward to his greatest success being sending any children he has to bed with the unquestionable knowledge they're loved and special
  • Looks to God's Word and hopes to emulate the marriage relationships described.
  • Is a pescetarian:holy:
That's not too much to ask, is it? Er... I'd better just go feed my spider.

Blessings,
awashinlove

I would prefer a happy, nice, clean-cut (no tattoos, body piercings, etc. please), well-mannered, Anglo-Saxon or German, Southern Gentleman-preferably a fellow Texan who is also athletic. I tend to be attracted to men who are my own kind so to speak. Prefer a Methodist or an Anglican, but am really open to men of nearly all faiths.

I also would like a man who is sensitive to my very sensitive nature, kind, caring, knows the true meaning of love (see Corinthians), and will respect my personal space. I'm not much of a touchy-feely person, nor am I person who freely tells others that I love them.

Smokers, drug addicts, alcoholics, men who have bad tempers, athiests, agnostics, etc. need not apply. One more thing, I really do not think that it would be a good idea if a married another ADDer  OTOH, I feel that other ADDers understand me a lot better than "normal" folks :)

The only thing that is a must for me (that I can think of right now) is that my husband has to be on the same page as I am on when it comes to having children. I lean towards not having children, so it would not work out very well if I married a man who strongly desires to have children. It would not be fair to either one of us.

I answered based on what I wanted, not what I would accept. I've never gotten what I wanted, but I've dated some terrific women, and wouldn't have missed the experience. Hey, I want a HumVee, too, but I drive a Saturn, and am quite content with it. ;)

On the other hand, I think it ought to be slightly different with a spouse. A spouse isn't a car :D The analogy is good for one aspect... but I hope, if you marry the one you love and she is, in this case, a Saturn... hoepfully you don't wish for a HumVee (that blonde-eyed blue ... erm, blue-eyed blonde... whatever... :D ;))

Would it destroy the thread to add this to it???

What if we, purely for the sake of enjoyment, we found those descriptions that we thought we fit and wrote down the names of every person whose description we fit? It was just a random idea, if it's dumb, ignore it, if it's not, then someone start it off.

LOL, a guy with a sense of humor (that doesnt irritate me more than it makes me want to laugh) is a huge plus. Somebody who really enjoys music-and wont try and play 'battle of the bands' with me (its so annoying!). And definitely a person who is more settled than I am. Oh yea, getting along with my family is a GIVEN.

SO I think God is going to make me wait a while for this, but Im not sure I care too much. :)
