I have served The Lord for nearly 20 years, from Conservative Pentecostal churches to Charismatic churches.
I am really concerned with how the church has become a business and left the Gospel. (Good news).

The good news is not that Jesus would like you rich (Laodicea church) but that our sins have been forgiven and we are no going to hell.

The reason we are seeing inroads by the Islamic and other false doctrines is because the Pastors have exchanged our truth for a Lie.

Tithes
The purpose of the tithe as per the old testament , was to meet the needs of the widow orphan child and the Foreigner to the land, and to the upkeep of the temple. The temple today is not a place (See The Gospel where Jesus talked to the Lady at the well). No Epistle ever mentions the tithe because the focus was on meeting needs . All collections were made to meet needs not to build temples or create prosper Pastors.

We are going to see big losses if we carry on supporting these lies, preached from the Pulpit.
The church should start to meet the needs around her. Just for one moment sit back and look at the church from the outside and tell me that what you see does not look repulsive. (And I am not talking about those people who are really working hard and meeting the needs around them) but speaking about the general self gratification (Laodicea church we are currently presenting as the Gospel.

I am not against giving. There are many missionaries that need to be supported and I do. I am against building massive temples (Churches ) that cost a fortune to build and to maintain.

God Bless
Your brother in Christ

Is this the right forum for this?
I do feel quite strong about the fact that the church is spending more time judging the world, and her garment is full of stains.
Paul said we need to judge our selfs..

I installed one of these God Decoders, and was serving throgh the channels.
I was shocked at some of these TV preachers, and how the Gospel message has been changed.
I have some friends who has been so disapointed that they are not interested in in Church anymore.

Sorry if I might have offended you but

You shall know the truth and the TRUTH shall set you free.

Isn't a church just a place for the already converted to go and publicly worship with others of like mind? Churches have maintenance costs including maintaining 1 or more pastors. Those costs have to spread out amongst the congregation. So the bigger the congregation, the less the cost is individually.

It seems to me to make sense to maximize the size of the congegration. Individual costs are lower and the pastor(s) can improve their material life style. Marketing techniques as employed by private industry have been shown to be effective in selling a product. Guys like Jerry Falwell figured this out a long time ago, judging by the size of the mansion he lives in.

The problem I see is that a number of churches are marketing a feel good gospel that, while attractive to an obviously large number of people, isn't necessarily the message Jesus was attempting to convey. But people are people, and they are going to believe in whatever makes them happiest. So this isn't something you can really do anything about.

Can you show me in the new testament a colelction made to build a church.
I can show you that the early church had fellowship at the homes.

The Church / Temple as is today robs us of the concept of being a christian.

Jesus is in our heart where ever we go.
What happens though now is that people are very holy when they meet on Sundays, but the ret of the week we cannot see a duference between them and the world (not all) .

If you are a christian you don't need a building to go in worship.
You do need fellowship. How do you do that in a church.
Each believer is suppose to bring a word a psalm etc etc. How do you do that in church.
The cell concept is an attempt to go back to the original church, but it does not work, because after a while it becomes a social club.

God bless

Yes, like a lot of what is happening in society is also happening to churches. There seems to be more materialism and the focus is on aquisitions. Plus the big churches around here seem to be in competition, like businesses. One humonguous church offers an astounding array of products for sale, plus special tithing programs and gift incentives. The problem with generating that kind of business is that in itself it becomes a monster that has to be maintained.
