Interesting--though this appears to be a fairly good example of a frivolous lawsuit. Based upon just the information included in the link you provided, Marina Bai appears to lack both standing to sue and any real claim of injury being proximately caused by any breach of duty owing to her by NASA. Also, Moscow courts would probably lack jurisdiction over NASA. Probably a publicity stunt....

why do we reward people, who are full of ****, with international attention?

At every step of progress of mankind there seems to be some superstitious boob saying you shouldn't do something.

Edited to add I didn't think the word that sounds like the crappie(sp?) fish would get filtered.

Careful - you're starting to sound like Aron in your old age :p

Much as this suit disgusts me, I don't think she's a stupid woman. Really, coming up with a crazy story that could win you 300 million dollars sounds pretty smart to me. I wonder what she'd do with it, though? Will her "morals suffer" if she doesn't give it to charity?

I do hope this gets laughed right out of court.

however, there is no such thing as bad publicity.
want to bet that she does make money off this idea somehow.
so will lawyers.

i wonder if NASA anticipated lawsuits over the collision?

1 lawyer in a town will starve.
2 will end up owning the town.

Why do I get the feeling this woman hadn't heard of Tempel 1 before the Deep Impact story?

If frivolous lawsuits like this don't prove that astrologers are charlatans out for a buck, I can't imagine what else will.

Silly NASA. What if the asteroid was an alien friendship probe? We just launched a missile at it!

Stop channeling the spirit of Marshall "Herf" Applewhite... And take off those Nikes!
