(Please forgive the "dad'd" typo in the title, i didnt catch it before i posted it and i dont how to change it now)

This is something that has been bothering me for awhile. dad and his Box. He keeps accusing everyone of not being able to see outside this stupid box. Now to me, hes the one that insists on keeping his world inside a box. He puts down science all of the time, saying its wrong (Unless of course it fits into his small belief system) and not taking anything else into consideration. If it dosent fit perfectly into the bible, its wrong. Now on the other hand, evolution and other fields of science takes everything into consideration, finds a way to solve the problems that we encounter and trys to find answers to things humans have wondering about since we have been on this earth. How is that being in a box? Isnt the "box" really dad's bible?

I would be interested in your answer about this dad, to me you live in a small box, unable or unwilling to see over the sides to look at things the rest of the world see on a daily basis.

Could you please give me a definition of this box you keep insisting we all live in, and tell me how its us and not you thats inside the box?

I agree.

And presumably dads mind must reason something like this:

Dad: Look OUTSIDE the box!
Dad: How do we do that?
Dad: Look IN the Bible!
Dad: So thats whats really at the center of the earth, really?
Dad: Yes! See what you learn when you look outside the box.

(Bolded capitals are for pointing out the irony.)

Actually in another thread we learned that if it relates to him getting his groove on, the bible isn’t up to much either.

The one thing you gotta love about dad is that he makes up a bunch of lame phrases, and then combines them all to sound really lame.

You can't say no to: "You must think outside the box of granny speck science check and mate!"

How right you are, but what the hell does that mean anyways??? Please explain that one for me too dad.

outside the box is relative to a persons ideologies. kinda reminds me of my uncle, (so liberal he would put almost every liberal on this forum to shame :p ) he constantly calls me close minded for not agreeing with him. so i always ask him, "uncle, if I give up my ideas in exchange for yours, i will somehow become open minded?"

I'm new here so I don't know who this "dad" person is or what he is like, nor do I understand why he refers to himself as "dad," but nonetheless I have something to add to this discussion about this so-called "box."

Often times, as I have observed, people with absurd arguments will take the very rationale that you would use against them and pre-emptively use it against you. Sometimes they even turn your own words around on you regardless of if you said it first or not. For instance, I might say that someone is being "narrow-minded" because they have a limited perspective on things, only to later hear them say to me, "Why don't you open your eyes and stop being so close-minded."

People do this especially when they are completely wrong about something. They will actually say the very thing that proves them wrong, but try to use it against you. Call it ad hominem or blame shifting or whatever, but I think it is absolutely ridiculous, albeit somewhat humorous.

Believe me, it's better not to know. In this situation, ignorance is bliss. :)

Heh. That's it to a T. Are you sure you don't know of Dad?

Who knows, we should ask the guy who put it in quotes.

I think I have made it pretty clear that I believe that the physical only based science is quite limited, when compared to the big picture where the spirit is added as well. Hence, the comparison to a 'box'. We have the spiritual, we have the physical, and we have had, and will again have, the merged reality of both of them combined. We might say, Spirysics, physics, and mergisics! Ghosts and angels (just ask around how many people believe in these things) are spiritual, therefore operate under spirysics, or spiritual laws. We are physical and operate under physical only laws. When heaven comes, and the new heavens and earth, and eternity, we will have a combination of the two, or a merge!
Now to focus solely on the physical is very constraining.

AS far as granny and the speck go, I have said several times what they refer to. The first lifeform on earth that somehow appeared (granny bacteria) -and the speck is a simple term to refer to the very early stsges of the (silly) big bang theory, when all that our universe contains was said to be in a hot soup so small that we would not see it with our naked eye if we were there watching! Billions and billions of galaxies, all squished up in a speck sized soup! This is the kind of insanity that results in using the physical only as the be all end all measurement for all time and space!
If you can stick the planet here in a small bottle, along with a model of a tall ship, why, heck, I might give the thing a second look!
