Are there certain sins, too terrible for God to forgive even a Christian?

I was really wondering what other people's views are on this. Are there some sins that God simply cannot forgive because they are too terrible and if a Christian ever commits them, does that mean they have done something unpardonable? Or is God really a God of infinite grace providing the individual repents, confesses that sin and asks for forgiveness?- what about Judas who admitted he had sinned, but was eternally condemned?
I have really wondered and worried about this because Satan has frequently tried to literally force me (and I mean overwhelming temptation that is unbearable) for instance to pray to him and call him 'lord'. If a Christian did that or some other unimaginably terrible sin would they be eternally condemned to hell as Judas was when he betrayed Jesus? Could a Christian sell their soul to Satan?
Please help!

God will and does forgive EVERY single sin.
Whatr is in your heart? Are you a child of God?
If you had a child...would it matter what wrong doings your child did? Would that child still be yours? Would you still love your child?
I am guessing your answer is yes.
And that is God's answer.
We are his children when we ask him into our lives.

No, it's just I have been struggling against this for well over a year now. My church believes in OSAS but I can't help feeling unsure with this and well I am constantly trying to fight falling into a state of eternal death IF that would be the outcome should I ever fall. God refuses absolutely to free me from this or take this away from me, no matter how many times I plead with him to.
What on earth can I do?

There is only one unforgivable sin and, as Bear said, it is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. As a side note, I do not believe that a saved person, once enlightened to the truth by the Holy Spirit living in that person, can commit this sin. God cannot be devided against Himself:

1 John 3:9
Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

God bless.

I'm pretty sure that Jesus said the only unforgiveable sin was to blaspheme the Holy Spirit, meaning, to call the Spirit "vain" or "empty." If you don't respond to the callings of the Spirit toward your heart, you are blaspheming Him.

As for selling your soul to satan, well, you don't own it, so you can't sell it. Jesus Christ had title and deed to your soul, and He ain't selling to anyone, let alone satan. So I don't think you need to worry about that.

But I am concerned about your feelings that satan is trying to get you to worship him. Have you talked to your pastor about that?

Oh yes of course I have- they just said don't worry about it! They don't even seem to believe that a person can be spiritually attacked or influenced by demons- that it is no more than psychological.
I've told people about this and people have prayed regularly for me, but to no avail.

What final ultimatum are you referring too?

The people I heard this from- different people, various places said that Jesus gave these people a final ultimatum in a vision or angelic appearance to give up all deliberate sin in their life for ever or lose him for eternity- i.e. unless they gave up all their sin first and truly accepted him as Lord by doing so, they would commit the unpardonable sin and be eternally lost despite the fact that they made a commitment to him, sometimes many years previously.
Why is the bible so confusing on this issue? Whether a person can lose their salvation or not must surely be the most important issue for a person of all after initially accepted Jesus as their saviour.
The thing is too I got an e-mail last night from a person on this site who said to me that they had literally asked Jesus to be their Lord many times and meant it, yet recently Jesus turned round and said to them in a vision that they had never truly accepted him as Lord and were now eternally lost- this person is now on the verge of suicide. It's very very worrying indeed.

TH,

I would like to share a story with you. As a youngster my Uncle was bullied by a certain other boy. One day my grandfather was passing by the school and this certain boy had my uncle down on the ground pounding on him. My Uncle cried out to his father 'He's hurting me dad'. His father replied 'He will as long as you let him' and continued home. Now while this may appear callous at first glance consider it for a minute. My grandfather knew that he couldn't be there every second of every day to protect his son, and it wasn't as if the other boy was larger or stronger. My uncle had to learn that there are just some things you have to do for yourself. The story has a happy ending. My uncle got so mad that he whipped the other boy and that was the end of the bullying.

So how does that story have apply to your situation? Consider that Jesus left Christians His name, and that all spirits are subject to that authority. The 70 that He sent out came back amazed and reported that even the spirits were subject to them, and Jesus replied 'Marvel not at this, but that your names are written in heaven' (My paraphrase).

Jesus has given you the power and authority to defeat any spiritual enemy, yet you cry out to the Father 'He's hurting me!' God has answered 'He will, as long as you let him'.

I hope this helps.

God has clearly told me that there is ONE sin that is unforgivable for the Christian. If a Christian ever deliberately calls Satan 'Lord' then that person becomes eternally condemned to the same destruction that is due for Satan and his demons. The reason why is because that person accepts the mark of Satan (the spiritual mark of the beast) on their heart and thus eternally disqualifies themselves from the grace of God. A Christian can out of their own freewill, eternally give their soul back to Satan if they accept Satan back as their lord- simply addressing him as this deliberately even once causes a person to commit the eternal sin.
Even rejecting Christ and falling away can be forgiven providing a person eventually repents and comes back to Jesus. Calling Satan 'Lord' cannot be forgiven. Revelation Chapter 13 makes this crystal clear- no one who has their name written in the book of life in eternity past, the Elect will ever worship Satan. Those who accept Christ or ever believe the truth and ever worship Satan become eternally lost and as eternally condemned as Judas Iscariot was.
A non Christian however can be forgiven from this sin, if they committed it before the Holy Spirit witnessed to them the truth about Jesus.
A person will therefore persevere to the end and remain faithful to God (or come back for good if they ever fall away) no matter what the circumstances and will never worship the beast or Satan if their names are in the book of life. Those that do commit this sin, never had their names written in the Book of Life. God in eternity past knew the sin that they would commit and thus never accepted them.
Therefore OSAS is true, because those who are truly saved -the Elect will never fall away forever or worship Satan. God knows the future of every individual and won't give eternal life even temporarily to such people who do.
Such people are therefore predestined for eternal destruction.

Confusing topic, and discouraging at times too.

My views, God won't turn anyone away who is seeking His salvation. No one. No one.

Whats blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? The unforgiveable sin? Probably the sin of never being saved, or tunring from salvation. Jesus didn't talk much about the sunject though.

Hungry,
I would recommend a book called "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer. It helped me to understand and overcome the evil thoughts that once plagued me inside of my own mind. This is Satan's battlefield to tempt and try to defeat Christians. Once you learn this and discover how to deal with it, you will have taken the last stronghold away from the Devil. I no longer doubt my salvation as I once did, and I don't constantly find myself casting out evil thoughts. I highly recommend you check your library. Or I will send you my copy free of charge.

Your brother in Christ Jesus,
BK

Let me start by saying I believe in predestination. However, I gotta tell you bro, your comments are very contradictory to each other. You say a Christian person is only a Christian because God predestined them by putting their name in the Lambs Book of Life (which I agree with BTW), and you say a person whose name was written in the Book of Life will never commit this sin (which I also agree with). Then, you say:

Which is it? Can a Christian person commit this sin or not? Or do you think someone can be a Christian and still not be the elect? There's more to being a Christian than just claiming the name.

If I'm misunderstanding you please let me know and explain it in a way that my feeble mind can process. :D

Thanks,
God bless.

I think if someone is sincere in their repentance for a particular sin no matter how bad, God will forgive them. The catch is you have to avoid that sin again..you can't keep doing it over and over and expect to be all good in God's eyes..but I don't believe in once saved always saved anyway..but that's another story.

The elect are those who God knew in eternity past would remain faithful and endure to the end in his strength and power.
No one knows who the elect are and who aren't except God- but those who aren't will eventually fall away to eternal destruction.
I think God gives everyone a chance to live this life under the power of his Holy Spirit- if they accept Jesus, but only those who truly accept Jesus into their hearts as Lord and saviour will remain faithful- the rest have a chance maybe for many years to become truly saved, then finally blow it and fall away.
