I'm at band practice and we were playing something Sea Of Faces by Kutless, which is a good song...and after we were done I was like hey guys we should play some Blindside. Then one of members is like it needs to be christian music carl...I'm like Blindside is christian...and hes like couldn't tell by the lyrics...and then the other guy agrees with him, and they're like people don't read lyrics they go by first impression...which I disagree with completely. It just ticked me off because if you read their lyrics with any deepness at all you can see God everywhere...look deeper guys!! Sorry for the rant...it just annoyed me...anything like this happend to anyone else here?

Yea totally. Relient K is a good example. Although they are straight up Christian, some of their songs need a little analyzing to fully understand what they are trying to convey, and setting aside their totally random songs (like May The Horse Be With You) alot of them have some good messages.

Blindside rocks, tell your friends to losenup there not going to hell if they listen to it. Heck i even have some Demon Hunter in my cd player :p

You may go to hell for listening to Demon Hunter, but it has nothing to do with style or lyrics.

I would have calmly unstrapped my guitar, and beat them all to death with it.

Well seeing as I'm a drummer that might be difficult... :p

I think I slightly overreacted in the situation, but someone insulting one of my fave bands by saying they aren't Christian or you can't tell by the lyrics is like someone insulting my mother...not quite as bad but still pretty bad...

That's hilarious and sad. In one my favorite songs they do "Pitiful" you can clearly hear the lyrics "as they hammer those nails into Your hands Your eyes they try to search for mine, but I look away" ...So apparently they're just into judging and not even listening. You don't have to read those lyrics, they're as clear as can be.
You're also right, Blindside is a Christian music scene band.

i really dislike that...alot of people dont believe that Switchfoot or Reliant K are considered Christian Rock...and I get labeled as some careless rocker or whatever who listens to all that hate music...its so odd...why cant people just read into things?

First thing I would do is read the lyrics.. If the words only mentrion God in passing like Him - or not referring to him as God or Christ or the SON etc. I would have problems with the Band calling itself a Christian Band.. Though it is possible for the band to be Christian.. I grew up with a band called Kansas.. They were Christians but not a Christian Band.. I see nothing wrong with listening to some bands that may not sing total Christian songs because they tend to sing clean songs.. Hey - I LOVE most Christian Rock Bands - but I tend to listen to MY DEEP PURPLE cd also now and then to really hear some guitar...... as for Apologetix... seeing how their songs are parodies of the ones I grew up with as young adult - I think they are great...

I have the same trouble with some of our Gospel Artists these days. I was watching a program where a group were paying tribute to a secular musician about a month or so ago, and on it this program were 3 GOSPEL singers. I was glad when I heard their names called because I knew that this would be an AWESOME opportunity to be a witness to the World. Well, to my surprise and great disappointment, all 3 of these artists sang songs that did not call GOD's/JESUS name. They all said things like, him, he and you. They all a beautiful voices that GOD gave them, yet each failed to give HIM the glory simply by calling HIS name, (GOD/JESUS). I was so angry, but then a little later in the program a Opra Singer came on, and sang "When I wake up in da morning, give me JESUS". It was AWESOME!!! This Opra singer did was the "so called" Gospel singers failed to do. GOD MUST be praised, and he is going to be praised, if not by us, then HE will use a rock, but GOD, MUST be praised.:bow::bow:
