Is Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Christian-like?

You shoot people and steal cars and also can buy prostitutes.


Guns were not in existence during Christ's time, and neither were cars. Therefore they cannot be representative of Christianity. I think we can all agree that prostitution is not accepted by Christianity.

Now, I don't think people will go to Hell for playing the game, but probably a seven-year old shouldn't be playing it.

I'm surprised that you could have gotten the impression that it was just a racing game. I thought Grand Theft Auto was one of the most well-known games out there. Certainly the media likes to say that it is corrupting the children occasionally.

i dont think so .......i let my 5 year old nephew play it ....thats his favorite game .....i like watching him play ...he drives around and like to have cop chases ............i dont c nothin wrong ,........i dont go buying prostitutes ..that shouldnt be in the game cuz its stupid ........

There are racing games that don't involve the killing and sex elements that GTA does.

Well, you know it does have a 15+ rating, so little kids shouldn't be playing it in the first place.

I think the game has a Mature rating (or maybe it differs country to country). So you might need to do some explaining if you want kids to play it. It's not actually a racing game...

Try Midnight Club 1 or 2 (haven't played 1 but I'm assuming it's good since its a Greatest Hit). It's made by the same people, but it's only the racing part. It's not a perfect game (some language and the ability to run down pedestrians, although there's not blood) but a far better option than GTA. And if you really want, there's a code for missles and machine guns, which really doesn't add to the violence since there's still no blood. Like I said, it's not perfect, but it's an alternative. Sadly there's no cops unless one of the missions involves them . One of the only disappointments I found.

P.S. My cousin enjoys the game a lot also, he thinks it is fun to race around in the car. It teaches him consequences for bad driving at a young age too. I just hope I am not steering him to the wrong path.

I don't know about that. You can run red lights in Grand Theft Auto and the cops apparently aren't very concerned about it.

Anyway... I liked GTA. Haven't played Vice City, but I like hitting things with a baseball bat when I'm bored or angry. (Not in reality, of course)

Grand Theft Auto is a household name. You are employed to do various jobs by the mafia and to do them you jack cars to accomplish your goal. You don't even have to follow the plot line. You can just jack cars and kill people to your hearts content.
I haven't had much exposure to GTA, but I have played it.
Go rent the movie Goodfellas. Heck, the main character in goodfellas is played by Ray Liotta, who does voice acting in GTA.

As far as quality of game, the GTA games are fantastic, but their content is based entirely on committing strings of felonies beyond imagination. The whole goal in the game is to commit crime.
It also has strong language.

So yes, GTA is profoundly unchristian.

yes there are ..........but gta has the easiest driving controls of ne game ive played ...........my 5 years olds nephews dont know how to play project gotham 2 or midnight club ....its way too hard for them ...........

Yes ,this game is bad for children. I have played it and I found it to be horrible.

In answer to the question, as many others have before me, this is not a Christian game. Nor a kids' game. But if you're not too conservative, you may find it fun. I like to just drive around town at top speed, which usually ends in a high-speed chase with the police. Or the car blows up.

Not a good game for a 7 year old or christian. Thats why it's so enjoyable. Lets face it killin people taking their money and cars is'nt healthy for the mind, while listening to VROCK.
