I would like for you guys to pray for me that I can start to pray to Our Holy Mother more often. I often find it hard to pray to Mary. Though, I do; I don't feel totally sincere in the prayer. It's just difficult for me. I had a good experience tonight though. I have been reading a book about Mary. I have found it helpful. Thanks to all for making this site so great. Any words or suggestions would also be appreciated. Merry Christmas and God bless.
Although Catholics understand exactly what you mean, Xaeniac, non-Catholics would find your request highly offensive. In the interest of unity, I sincerely ask you to rephrase your request to say something like, "I wish I could approach Our Holy Mother and ask her to intercede on my behalf, to pray for me to develop a closer relationship with her Son."

"Praying to Saints" is a sore point between Catholics and Protestants. We Catholics do not deify Mary or the Saints. We see them as dear friends and sources of inspiration, and we desire to mimic their holy behavior so that we, also, can grow in love and faith as they did.

In Cana, Mary approached her Son and asked Him to help the wedding party because they had no more wine. Although Jesus stated that it was "not yet His time," He did indeed do as His mother asked Him to do. We humbly ask Mary to take OUR petitions to her Son, and intercede on our behalf as well.

And we must keep in our hearts her direction, "Do whatever He tells you to." For that is her message to us, as well.

Peace be with you,
