I am feeling very conflicted right now... for some reason I feel very stressed whenever we approach a Christian Holiday. The problem is that I feel hypocritical in celebrating those special days with family members that aren't recognizing the true meaning of the day, ie. Christmas just for presents, Easter as an excuse for chocolate and drinking! I am very torn as to what to do. I would like to make a short visit before dinner and carry on to Church events that evening. I will use it in a small way to spread the word by passing out this poem with the corresponding jelly beans:
Orange is for the sins we’ve done,

Red is for the blood of God’s only son,

White is for the grace he gives,

Green is for new life in him,

Yellow is for your place in heaven,

Invite Jesus into your life and be truly forgiven.

Any advice from people that have been through this is very appreciated. Thanks, Vanessa:wave:

I know how you feel with this one. I use to really enjoy Christmas until the focus on presents became almost the most important thing. Christmas with my family was not as enjoyable as it once use to be. For many years I let it make me almost a scrouge when Christmas came around. Then my daughter came around and it was a wake up call. It had to make a conscious decision not to let the focus of Christmas in my heart to be changed by others. It is up to us to decide how we feel about these things. Things have not really changed with my family. Although last year it was at our house and so I was able to focus it more.

The bottom line really is that it is your heart that matters. What others do can be very frustrating but the focus of your heart needs to stay on Christ and what He has done for us. Let others see that Christian holidays mean more than just a excuse to party. Let them see that they are reminders to us to worship and be thankful for all Christ has done for us.
