Can't believe how fast time has flown. My little boy, Joshua, is turning 4 in a month time. This in Holland means he will be starting to go to school every day. He has a looking in day on April 11th and will go for real on May 9. My little cuddlebox, won't be with me during a few hours of every day anymore. I do have another boy at home, he is only 2 months, but it is still a milestone and something that will change our lives.

I do know he will love it though. And he is getting 2 lovely teachers. My oldest, Talitha, was in her class last year.

Just wanted to share this.

GOD BLESS

I can't imagine when Andie starts school!! They're just starting something here in Florida for 4 year olds...they go 1/2 days during the school year...so I've got another year with her at home, but I don't like to think about that day coming!! Lol

Is your school year throughout the entire year in Holland? Just curious as to him starting in May...our school year goes from late August until May/June...

I know normally in the USA kids start going to school at 5 or so. I think it is good that kids starting going a bit earlier. They are still like sponges and they learn to play with other kids.

Here in Holland they have a streaming in day every 2 weeks, unless there is a vacation. So, they just stream in to a class that started in August. We also run from August till about June/July. But here they go out from, as soon as a child turns 4, they can go to school. But until they are 5, it isn't compulsory. If I would feel in the 2 afternoons he would have school, that he is too tired, I can keep him at home.

It will be very strange at first when your child goes to school, but if you still have a younger one at home, it is okay. I like hte age differences I have, because the otehr will be in school and I can concentrate a bit more on the youngest. What am I going to do when he turns 4????:D

GOD BLESS

I say the shop is closed for that one.:D I am blessed to have had this 3rd one. Dh only wanted 2 kids really, but I wanted 3. So we talked about it, after I finally dared to bring the subject up. And we were just gonna see what would happen. Well we know what happened now, haha. But I don't want any more and dh definitely doesn't want any more.

It's going to be hard next year when my daughter is ready for kindergarten.

My husband's mother and brothers live in Holland. His brothers get about a month and a half off of school because they usually come to the States to visit family.

Is that in the Summer that they get off? IT is about normal here. We don't have as long vacations as you have. Summer is 6 weeks. And if you have family abroad there are possibilities to get off a bit more. At least on the school from 4 till 12. My daughter is allowed 10 extra schooldays off a year, because of half her family living abroad. Don't make use of it a lot really, but it sure is handy.

Where in Holland do they live? And have you ever visited Holland or are you still planning to?

GOD BLESS

Our daughter will start school in the fall. I know that I will be crying when I drop her off for her first day. She is so excited about school. Time flies so fast. But for me even when she goes off to university she will still be my baby girl.

What a milestone ... I remember when I taught that first day with little kindergartners ... the parents were all standing around the room crying and taking pictures. I actually still remember my first day of kindergarten - I remember finding a straight pin my mom forgot to pull out of the hem of the dress she made me. :D For me, I know it's another reason I'm glad we are homeschooling ... no crying on that first day of school! ;)
