Hey, that looks like that, so it must be of the same anestor or related some how...give me a break.

I don't see your objection. The existance of an intermediate form at some time in the past, about where DNA testing suggests that, say, birds and reptiles split off from each other, is very substantial.

"What, exactly, would you consider "evidence"? "

Just a question...why is it that there are no long periods of change, just short spirts according to the fossil record, and evolutionary theory predicts long gradual changes?

Could you answer my question? Describe a piece of evidence that you would consider compelling.

To answer yours, the theory is that, in one particular region, a new species gradually splits off from the parent species; when it's had long enough to change substantially, it eventually reaches a point where it is easy for it to spread widely, so we suddenly see whole bunches of these new things. Note also that this is exactly what you'd expect in response to periodic catastrophes, such as meteor strikes; any major change in the environment would change selection criteria everywhere.

DNA is not the sole determinate of physical similarity.

Also, and this is a bit sarcastic of a question, but if God didn't use evolution to create us... then why do we look so much like higher primates, and more importantly, why are we about 98% like chimps from a genetic standpoint?

Evolution (the deity) would have to come up from hell and slap me in the face.

So, you think that the physical world is a lie, and that nothing we learn from studying it can be true? For that matter, what "deity"? Evolution isn't a deity, it's a theory about how the world works.

Certainly, the above statement is a compelling argument against the claim that creationism is a "scientific theory" the way evolution is.

Basically, your belief seems to me to come down to the claim that God is lying to us. God made this world, and the things in it are real and true; He did not err in creating them, however he did it.

If I study the physical world, and find that a circle 10 units in diameter is a bit *over* 30 units in circumference, I don't point to 1 Kings 7:23 and declare that the concept of pi is a "god" that would have to come up from hell and slap me before I'd believe it. I say "oh, I guess the Bible isn't a math textbook."

If I study the physical world, and I find substantial evidence suggesting that the earth orbits the sun, I don't point to the sections of the bible that talk about the sun rising and falling, and say "this is obviously false, the Bible says otherwise"; I accept that the Bible uses metaphor and allegory, and talks in the terms people use, even when those terms are not scientifically precise.

So why is it that, when I study the physical world, and find substantial evidence suggesting that creatures in it change over time, and that the creatures that I see today are likely the results of long processes of change, most or all of them from common ancestors, you think I should suddenly conclude that the world isn't like that, and that one of the most poetic and allegorical pieces of the whole book is somehow literal truth?

Are you saying that God *can't* achieve results like this through evolution? I say He can.

The only argument I could see would be "but God would have said so", and I just don't see this as compelling. The creation story is there to make us feel warm at night, not to tell us what happened. We didn't need to know, we didn't really care (except in the vague sense that we wanted to know that we were special), and there was no set of words in Hebrew that would describe what really happened.

God is not in the textbook business. The Bible is not a particularly good source for math, science, economics, or other subjects we can study without it.

"Polls are pretty worthless unless you poll everyone in the entire country... or world."

I'd disagree. they are great if done right and I think the one your elude to was done very wrong or with misleading questions.

"Note also that this is exactly what you'd expect in response to periodic catastrophes, such as meteor strikes; any major change in the environment would change selection criteria everywhere."

Funny how you have to say that happens with every change you see in the fossil record, PLUS you don't take that into account when dating things :) Flaws abound...

Wrong. Thats what evolutionists are.
I know because I have seen electric switches in geodes over 500,000 years old found in the southwest U.S.. Fossils with bootprints 300-400 million years old according to carbon dating.
I have seen quality artifacts that were pulled deep from coal mines; by quality i mean they could have been made today. I have seen paintings that rival our best classical artists that were unearthed in Greece dated much older than should be.
These Facts point to a very simple answer.
The Evolution theory is BUNK! These discoveries are real and they blow the evolution theory out of the water.
There were previous civilisations, the theory of evolution is merely the spouting of theorists who desperately want to control and explain their lives.
Testament literally means covenant. Our Bible is our agreement or covenant with God. It is not a calendar nor a complete history of the world; it is what God wants us to use as our guide while here.
Sorry to burst your evolution bubble but even scientists know that less than one year ago a human skeleton was found next to our supposed "ancestors skeletons" (broadcast via kgo radio san francisco).
I believe in adaptive change due to environment, but the evolution theory is broken and cannot be fixed if one uses all the evidence. I dont have dates and names but if tasked I will do my best to point to the publications.

God Bless and Take Care.

"tericl2, so your basic opinion is

"I don´t think there is enough evidence for evolution, and I don´t believe that the existing evidence is valid, so creationism must be correct."

The question is still here: where is a single piece of evidence FOR creation?
"

Wow, that must have been one of my earliest posts in this forum.

Ah, those were the times! The sweet smell of nostalgia. Sight!

ACTUALLY IVE SEEN POLLS WHICH SUGGESTED THAT ONLY ABOUT 30% OF THE SCIENTIFIC WORLD BELIEVES IN EVOLUTION (NOT COUNTING "MICRO-EVOLUTION" OR VARIATION OF KINDS) DR. GARY PARKER IS A WONDERFUL BIOLOGIST.

I can guarantee that you haven't seen an accurate representation of the scientific community poll that says any such thing. Among biologists, the Theory of Evolution is accepted by far more than 99%. I think someone has been lying to you.

I know because I have seen electric switches in geodes over 500,000 years old found in the southwest U.S.. Fossils with bootprints 300-400 million years old according to carbon dating.

I guarantee that this is untrue because carbon dating cannot be used to date fossils, bootprints, or anything over about 100,000 years old. The technique can only be used to date relatively young organic samples. Other radio-isotope techniques can date older samples and inorganic samples (i.e. rocks).

I have seen quality artifacts that were pulled deep from coal mines; by quality i mean they could have been made today. I have seen paintings that rival our best classical artists that were unearthed in Greece dated much older than should be.

Shocking! The greeks had art! Oh my god, the scientific community will be thrown on its head. As for the the coal mine artifacts and the electric switches, I would like some evidence please - I think that someone is lying here.

These Facts point to a very simple answer.
The Evolution theory is BUNK! These discoveries are real and they blow the evolution theory out of the water.

Show me these facts or at least a journal article where they were described. Would love to see them myself - as would the hundreds of thousands of scientists the world over that are studying geology, physics, biology, paleotology, archeology, and other sciences that these "facts" would effect.

Sorry to burst your evolution bubble but even scientists know that less than one year ago a human skeleton was found next to our supposed "ancestors skeletons" (broadcast via kgo radio san francisco).

Again - assertions without support. Shocking!

I believe in adaptive change due to environment, but the evolution theory is broken and cannot be fixed if one uses all the evidence. I dont have dates and names but if tasked I will do my best to point to the publications.

Please go for it!

Just wondering, but do you really think that all the scientists studying the theory and other related theories that go against your religious myths to be stupid? evil? what?

I just polled myself...I believe 100% that this thread is going nowhere.

I know this is older than the idea of god, but i just bumped it to show how people can be ignorant of the facts and claim to be knowledgeable by making statements saying something as a fact without stating the source.

Thank you for clarifying why you bumped it. Ancient threads being resurrected seems to bizarre to me, I'm glad there was a logical reason for it. :)
