wouldn't it be more accurate or at least more clear to say something like: "the standard scientific explanation for the origins and development of the universe as we know it" instead of "cosmic evolution"

I mean, I really dont think that that term is used by anyone other than creationists, at least thats the only people that I have ever heard use that term.

I agree. The only times I have ever heard "cosmic evolution" was from Hovind or people quoting him. I think it is the method used by creationists to attempt to equate evolution to the big bang.

Yes, I was quoting Hovind. Do you consider the big bang theory to be part of evolution?

Hovin doesn't know what he is talking about.

Why on earth would cosmology be part of biology?

Well, according to popular Creation Scientists when evolution began there would have been a pletiful of non-radioatomic rocks which is what evolution needs to happen. However, once the great flood happened space debris from the firament dropped down and created radiometric isotopes in the oceanosphere which then radiated Noah and his family so that they possessed hemogloben.

Duh.

That's what most evolutionist say. And that's one of the reasons why I'm asking this question.

It wouldn't... but it is possible that the big bang is nessary for the theory of evolution...?

I don't think so. Evolution and the Big Bang are both models. One explains the development of life and the other explains the beginning of the universe as we know it. Potentially, you could accept one model but reject the other in favor of something that you feel is better supported by the evidence. One does not lean on the other because they are not talking about the same thing.

Also, please note that the Big Bang model is not necessarily an atheistic explanation of the beginning. I believe that God might have used the Big Bang. It's a rather elegant elaboration on "Let there be light."

No, all biological evolution needs is (essentially) space and resources. Since these are both obviously here it doesn't much matter how they got here, in regards to evolution. The Big Bang could be false, but that is completely unrelated to evolution, understand?

By the way, you might want to cross-check Hovind on just about everything he says. He been proven to be less than reliable on most occasions.

That's a loaded question. I mean, it's necessary in the sense that you have to have a baseball before you can play the game, but the "relationship" ends there.

Cosmic evolution usually refers to the formation of galaxies and other large structure.

I thought it was nothing ---> rocks ---> chimps ----> humans? (in Hovind's factually incorrect, but endlessly humorous conception of evolution)
