Exactly. It was a command. OT times are much different from NT times. God gave us laws that were there to protect us from harm--physically, mentally, and to keep us healthy and strong. The law was for our own good--we were to strive to obey them.

However, it was impossible to obey all of them--impossible. That was the point: to show us that we were sinners, unworthy of heaven and worthy of death. In the OT times, God showed his love to them despite the fact that they could not keep the commands.

Some Biblical examples: David was one of God's greatest friends. Yet, David was a sinner. Among other things, he committed adultery and murder. Yet God shows his love for us through David by showing his mercy and grace to those who REPENT. Abraham, Moses, and many other men who were "friends" to God were sinful--their sin was carefully documented. They broke the law, but their repentance earned them God's love, and with that, He saved them by His grace.

The reason the Law is no longer important is this:

1Do you not know, brothers–for I am speaking to men who know the law–that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives?...4So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God...6But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Through baptism, we die with Christ, and are resurrected as new creations. Therefore, we are no longer "living" and the law no longer binds us. We are now servants to the Spirit of the Living God.

And CWeb, we will all pray for you. Don't harden your heart, I beg you. The love of Christ is the ultimate fulfillment of this life--give Him a chance.

Becuase as creator he deserves worship,whether in heaven or Hell when worship time comes you will worship it wont be a choice!

It really seems to me like you're scared. Woo wooo, part in hell... No way. It's been told to you before that God is forgiving. Without wanting to fuel a fight, I'm saying this because I don't want you to hurt anymore. I'm a freak, yeah, and I'm crazy for Jesus, but I have good reason - as you too may feel you have good reason for being an athiest. But it looks like you're pushing away the only hope you have. You cannot have a party while you're busy burning for the rest of eternity.
Hell wasn't made for humans, that means it was not made for you. It wasn't made for the nice old lady down the street and it wasn't made for Hitler. Nobody has to go. But Heaven is for you.

The Christians here on this webside are here because we've got something inside us more powerful than all the mistakes we've made. As for me, I've made far too many, but they've been forgiven, by the forgiving God. You say you'll be dead, pushing daiseys... if you're not just pushing daiseys, then the other option is that you'll be in Hell. That is one gamble not worth taking. Putting your faith in Christ, you will believe that you'll be with Him in heaven. If this is wrong, you have nothing to loose.... if you're wrong, you'll be pushing daiseys. If you're wrong about atheism, then the flip side is ending up in hell.
No Christian is perfect, so none of us are without flaws. Anyone can easily point out my mistakes and shortcommings, but when Jesus said he was willing to overlook that, and forget all the stuff I'd done, I gave up trying to be so tough and self sufficient. Now it doesn't matter to me what the world says I've lost, I've gained so much more since the day I accepted Gods love for me.
There is nothing wrong with everyone being happy forever. That is what people strive for even here on earth. Everyone wants to be happy, loved, and accepted. Being happy forever is something I'm looking forward to. Nobody wants to be unhappy forever. Personaly, I don't know if there will be chess in heaven... never been there, and I'm not too good at the game. But there will be pleanty to keep everyone happy. Get ready for a party in heaven, you're invited.

I very much doubt you will keep the mockery flowing with the mouth given to you by God if it winds up in hell. Only those that falsely accuse Him of injustice and hate Him wind up there. Those that were destroyed deserved it because of their unbelief and rebellion against God. Before the flood, satan even tried to corrupt the seed of man that would lead to Messiah, so when people align themselves with the father of all evil, they go to be with him forever. Why? Perhaps evil has to exist in some sense for the universe to exist as it does in the physical dimension where God enjoys His fellwoship with family, but we know for sure that it is seperated from heaven by and extreme gulf. No ne will hear discouraging curses and lies spoken about God and His creation. It would suit me fine to forget all the painful suffering caused by the and greed and arrogance of man to deny their creator and run after their own dark deeds instead of bringing them into the light, and those that are hypocrits for claiming the name and themn not acting accordingly will be found lacking too, as no one can mock and fool God and get away with it. Perhaps some will retain their hatred and hypocrisy right into hell, I hope to never know. I just thnk that it will be too late to at least try to change by then, as we have no guarantee of having one more day. Especially in this world.

Where you get this from?Ask some patients that have extreme pain that never goes away if it becomes tolerable!It doesnt,it never will.

I will go through this thread and see if there is anything to keep it going
