Is Osama Responsible?

How many of you have had this bug/virus? It is characterised by a sore throat/cold/cough with variations. The worst thing about it is that just as you think you are over it the wretched thing recycles itself.
I have joked that Osama must be responsible as it seems to be so widespread. It has been suggested that over use of antibiotics may be the cause.

My family has also had this recently. We keep passing it back and forth to each other.

I have a good doctor for my kids. He will tell me honestly if my kids need an antibiotic or not. I know sometimes you feel like you go to the doctor you need to get a pill. This is not always best.

We rarely take antibiotics.

I don't like taking antibiotics. I went to the doctor last year with athletes foot and came away with a prescription for an antibiotic. I was allergic to it, and had an awful itchy rash. I went back to the doctor who put me on steriods, I reacted badly to them! I still have athletes foot and the rash is now triggered by certain foods I could eat quite happily before!

One can live without antibiotics for everyday illnesses. My son (17) who has Down's Syndrome, also has G6PD which means that he has an allergy to all the penicillin range of antibiotics. The ones he is allowed still seem to upset him. He has not had any since he was 2 years old and we seem to have managed quite well.

My fiance Joe had a temp of 104 on monday! I was scared!

It was 83 degrees here on monday, and when I went to his house to drop off soup and cough syrup, he was in a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, wrapped in an afghan, shivering.

He wouldn't go to the doctor, of course (men!), but he was a lot better yesterday.

I got really sick the beginning of January. Had sniffles, a cold, constant sinus headache, tiredness, and fever for 3 days. It took about 10 days to go away enough for me to say I was feeling fine. I still had a bit of a stuffy nose and cough, but my headache was gone as was the fever and tiredness.

We have been fairly healthy here, thank God. My 2 yo son got a little overheated yesterday and got a heat rash. That's the extent of it for us.

OK, I have to retract my statement. That rash is definitely not heat rash. It would be pretty hard to develop that when it's 40 degrees. Both kids have sore throat and fever.

>>How many of you have had this bug/virus?

I have not really been getting sick, so much as my problem is all of a sudden I am aware of those little bugs. It's like I can see them swarming around people sometimes. They are very hard to get rid of. They only way to eliminate them is a tempeture over 140 degrees. There are things that kill bugs, there are things that kill lava, but only temps over 140 degrees will kill most all of them.

My wife thought I was going nuts. But then she woke up the next morning with 5 small welts on her leg from some sort of a bug bite. Actually, it was a alergic reaction. If she was not alergic to them, she never even would have know that she was bitten.

My mom use to talk about that. When someone got sick, she would say: Oh they were bitten by a bug. She had a collage degree in bacterology, so I guess she knew that all virus and all bacteria basicly is a bug.

I am not sure why they pick on some people and not others, but the Bible in one place says a third of the people will die from the sword and a third from pestilence.

Ezekiel 5:12 One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.

Zech. 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
