I'm going to PA this weekend. How about a round of Philly Steak sandwiches to add to our table? :yum:

Seems like forever since I've had one of those!!!

I would have brought in some of the NY state cheese curd I got at Christmas, but the kids ate it all :sigh: .

I've missed you. Have we both been around, but happened to be in different threads?

Sadly, no. My comp died in August and I've been trapped offline all this time.
There's probably no other way to get rid of me except outright persecution, which you have deigned to administer. ;)

EEK, that explains it. It's good to have you back. Hopefully, you don't have to go to some alternate location to get online.

Hi all! I grew up in the United Methodist church. In my early college years, I looked into other denominations... musically, I really love the Lutheran and Catholic churches! But I've always come back to the UMC, and have happily stayed put for the last 7 years or so.

I am currently the pianist at my church, where I also play harp, direct the handbell and flute choirs, and lead a healing music ensemble called Canticle.

I was on this forum last year for a while, then got distracted with a bunch of stuff, then Hurricane Ivan came along (I'm in Pensacola) - things have changed a lot around here, looks great!

I brought a plate of ham and turkey sandwiches, with the crusts cut off, for the covered dish dinner! ;)

Well, I'm sitting here in the aftermath of another winter storm that wasn't. We were supposed to get like an inch of ice followed by 3 inches of snow. We got a tenth of an inch of ice and a few snow flakes. The kids are bummed. Guess I'll be baking a big batch of chocolate cookies to comfort them when they get home from school tomorrow (they were hoping for a day off). I'll drop off the extras here when they are ready.

Celtie, help me! The stove in the apartment to which I've moved has the temp numbers worn off of the baking knob! I can't bake anything without them, and my microwave just broke. Is there some way to deduce the temperature of ones oven?

You can buy a thermometer that hangs from one of the oven racks to check the temp. Once you figure out where 350 is (the most common temp used) mark it on the dial with a marker. You might want to check a few other temps on either side to give you an idea of the approximat spacing on your dial for other temps.
The thermometer usually costs about a buck.

Oh, good idea! Well, supposing I can execute this plan; I'm still having trouble adjusting the stovetop burners.

I'm really broke right now because moving temporarily (I hope!) cut off my housing funding, so I'm getting this charity food, you know, odd mixtures of food items, which can be weird eating when I could actually set my ovens and burners, and had a working microwave. :sigh:

erm...it's not that I'm ungrateful to the local charities; they're a Godsend.

Planny!!!! I am so glad to see you back. Sorry to hear of your troubles, but I am glad that you are back with us. Loved the madcow link! The "madcow" cracked me up. :D

Hi bigsierra! Haven't seen you around for a bit either. Hope all is well out your way!

Welcom Monika to WP! Glad to have you join us! Is that you in the picture in your avatar playing the harp?

Well, I didn't get any Philly Cheese steak sandwiches this weekend :)cry:) but I was treated to an authentic Pennsylvannia Dutch meal. We had ham loaf and cheesy Dutch potatoes. Ham loaf is best described as ground ham and sausage mixed together and than formed in the shape of a loaf, much like meat loaf. It was ok, but the potatoes were yummy! I also had for dessert something that looked like a Swiss Miss Little Debbie cake, but the filling inside was ice-cream. It was very good as well.

/me adds a pot of chili to go with Monika's sandwiches.....

Actually, the move and everything went great, considering I couldn't see my way clear to pull it off at all. Talk about your leap of faith. Holy Haul-A-Ton-A-Books-On-Foot, Robin! Hey, and my microwave works today!

Yup, that's one mad cow! She was over last week, and you wouldn't believe what she...well, enough about me. How're you?!! :)

Hey, check out these hogafflhagehorses! Click on 'em one at a time, from left to right! :D
