Hello everyone!

I would like to join this wonderful club!!

My name is Cara, I am married to wonderful man named Greg, and I am 10 weeks pregnant!!
I am not working right now, and plan on being a SAHM. I am REALLY nervous about having my first child and taking care of a home! Right now we live in a small one bed/one bath condo, but will soon be purchasing a 4 bedroom house. I want to be good a wife, and mother, and am a little overwhelmed by the thought of all of the new things I am going to have to learn, and all the stuff that I don't know, that I think I should.

Any suggestions and or comments that might help make this transition easier, or less scary would be much welcomed!! Any advice??? Do you have set cleaning schedules, etc., so that you make sure you get everything done? Please give me some examples of your typical day (or your typical day when you had a newborn) so I know what I am in for!

Thank you so much!!

Hugs to all!

The important thing to remember anytime that cleaning is involved, is that what works for one person may not work for another.
I personally feel majorly overwhelmed with schedules, because when I get the chance to sleep in, this old gal is gonna grab those zzzz's.
Basically I'll start with whatever room needs the least cleaning and do that one completely. That way if the kids prevent me from doing anything else, then I have one clean one. Try not to do a little in this room, and a little in that room because you won't be able to see the work you've completed as well and may get discouraged.
Clean before you have your baby (lol, you'll most likely start nesting close to your due date so that won't be a problem for you). Then allow yourself plenty of time to heal and get your strength back up.
Really I've learned that the key is to pick up behind yourself/family immediately after it goes down.
Now that doesn't mean my house never gets messy lol.
gen025.gif
Believe me, I've just managed to get this thing cleaned and I still have a day of work in our bedroom and our oldest's room.
 and we hope you'll stick around here with us!

OK...I cannot BELIVE that I haven't found this forum until now!! I started a thread on the Women's Discussion board about other forums on CF & was looking around this morning...taa daa!! Anyways, this is perfect for me. I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I'll go back & do it....I wanted to get my intro in before my day starts!!

So....I'm Debby, a 38 year old SAHM of my gorgeous (not biased!! ) daughter Andie (short for Andrea). Yep, that's her in my avatar! She's 2 1/2....going on 20 sometimes, I think! My husband is a Risk Manager/Safety Director & Human Resources Director for an excavating company, and we live in SW Florida....just the 3 of us, or 4, actually....counting our 3 year old Boston Terrier, Zoe!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys on here....I'm already friends with BusyBee!!

Hi Cara...it's exciting, having a baby, moving into a new house!! I don't really have a cleaning schedule, either....oh, I've tried, but usually my 2 year old has other ideas!! But I have a set day to do laundry...Wednesdays...and a set day to go to the grocery store...Thursdays. Also, the one room I try to keep clean is the kitchen....clean up from dinner every night, so in the morning I'm not walking into a jumbled mess! (I think that's a hold-over from when I was doing the flylady thing!)

Other than that, I'm just lucky if I can keep up with keeping all the clutter contained in one small area!! hehe But I do try to get the living room straightened out, toys picked up, etc. before my husband gets home from work so he's not walking into a disaster area! And Andie's learning how to pick up her toys, so she's starting to "help" me keep her room picked up.

My goal is now to keep our bedroom clean & un-cluttered...to make it an "escape" for us....after going back & reading all the posts, I've been "empowered" to do it...I'm going to make that my goal for this week....it WILL be done by Christmas!! (keep on me about it, girls!!)

Thanks so much for sharing with me! I am really excited, but more nervous right now. I think I am just going to have to accept the fact that I am not going to be perfect (I have some perfectionist issues) and get over it. lol It sounds like keeping the house immacultely clean is not going to happen!

I am looking forward to learning more about you guys! Thanks again for your wonderful posts!

Heeeellllooooo!!! :D I know everyone is soooo busy with Christmas coming & all...just wanted tho to pop in & see what's going on....are you all staying sane?? or INsane!! hehe

Last night we had hubby's family & 2 out of town family members over for dinner....it was fun but Andie was wired with all the company & didn't get to sleep until after 10! Plus she didn't sleep in later today, she was up at 8!! So tonight will be an early night...

We WERE going to drive around & look at Christmas lights, but my husband is helping his dad re-do a kitchen for friends of theirs & it has to be done by Monday...they want to try to finish it up today so they don't have to work over the weekend...so probably it will just be a low-key night at home, which is fine with me...open a few family gifts & get Andie to bed early...then we have to put together her big Santa gift (one of those play kitchens).

Tomorrow hopefully won't be too crazy...we're hanging out here in the morning then heading to my hubby's sister's house for dinner & MORE gifts... !! hehe Sunday my parents arrive from Kentucky & they're coming over Monday evening for our Christmas...then I think things will settle down a little bit!!

Whew, I'm getting tired just writing about it! Hope everyone has a safe & very...

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Well it is about 9:00 pm here in GA, almost bedtime! (for boys that is) I have miss alot! I didn't realize I hadn't visited here in so long!

Nice to meet you, Cara. Congratulations on the soon to be new arrival! (Hope that came out right!)

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned boys and their energy (something like that anyway) I have two very active boys! They are a handful sometimes! Also, someone mentioned AWANA. I help out in (the 'Jaws' music starts now) the 5th grade boys. My oldest is in the class and that is where they needed me. They really are a wonderful group of boys, but they can get rowdy. When my oldest moves up, I am thinking about staying and helping in the class, but my youngest will be in there. I help sometimes in his class and they are more rowdy than our class! (4th grade boys)

I'll try to check in more often next time! Merry Christmas to all! Have a safe and happy and peaceful Christmas too.

I have a question for you ladies. My husband has been talking to me about not using birth control and letting God be completly in control of our life including when we will be blessed with another child. He has show me bibical backing for not using it and he feels really strongly about this. I am still pretty confused about it.

I am using an IUD and very happy with the results. We already have two wonderful girls and yes I do want more kids. What I am having a problem with is the chance that we may have another one before I am ready to have one. I am an uptight person. I am already on medicine for it. Vianna the baby will be turnig 2 next month and we wanted almost four years before we had her. I don't think I could handle two little ones at the same time. I also know if I had the IUD removed we could just do family planning and I could just calcuate when I would be ovulating. I just would like to get you ladies opionion about it topic.
Thanks

Well, I know alot of women post about using family planning and are very happy with it....altho I've never tried it myself! I just don't think that I have the discipline.

Currently, we have a 2 1/2 year old, and are using barrier methods/spermicide as birth control.

When we were trying to get pregnant, I did use one of those ovulation predictors that you can buy at the drugstore...like a pregnancy test...and that's what helped us get pregnant...that may be an option for you, as well!

Blessings to you....and prayers!!

That is kinda what we did. However, I also used the rhythm method. (knowing when I ovulate) We have two boys. We want more kids, but I don't have the the parts anymore.

I would have to say go with your heart and pray about it.

I'll keep you in my prayers as well.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to make sure that everyone here knows that I will not be online anymore. My husband and I have decided that we can use the $40 we spend on Internet Subscription/month for other much needed things. My house has been MUCh cleaner, my hubby has been happier, and my kids have been getting more attention as well, so I think this is the best move for me! We have already canceled our internet subscription, so I am on Stephanie's (my sister in law to be) computer right now. You all keep this club open and take care of it for me. I will miss you all!!!

I have also posted this under prayer requests and women discussion but I want to make sure as may people read this to be praying for her. Thanks

I'll try and keep this brief:

I snl recently got devorced over a year ago and has since changed her mind and wants her ex back. But because of the terrible mistakes she has made he will not take her back. Since her devorce she has "been" with several guys and has even become pregnant and had an abortion

She has two boys soon to be 8 on one 5. The dad has custidty and she has them when he is at work, he is a fireman.
Well last night she committed herself to the phyc ward at the hospital because she is so depressed.
She does not know the Lord. Please pray for her and her kids. The father talks very bad about her to the kids. We are not very close but my heart really goes out to her. I think about her all the time.
Thank you for reading and praying for her
