O.K so maybe things have changed but it seems every generation thinks they are in end times. The only reason why I think we could be near end times is the increase in knowledge and travel mentioned in Daniel 12.4 and Rev 119For three and a half days they'll be there--exposed, prevented from getting a decent burial, stared at by the curious from all over the world.

Hi BonoMan. Just the fact alone that knowledge has increased, is a good base to stand on for it being the end times. Scientists have cloned animals, and even though they say that they won't do it, you can bet that they are going to try doing a human. When man sets himself up as a god with the creation stuff, then we have gone to far.
But there are also millions of believers in the world. In Noah’s time there were only what 8 people?
That shows right there jusy how ungodly Noahs generation was. It is pretty bad when God states that He repented because He had made man. Also, you have to take this into account. The reason that there are more believers now, is because we have the "knowledge" to get the gospel spread through the airwaves...TECHNOLOGY, SATTALITE.

I have also noticed a lot of lawlessness andwickedness has increased over the last 50 years but I often wonder to myself it must of been worse when everyone was claiming the end is nigh generations ago? I dont want to be one of them.
If you stop and think about it, in Matt. 24:24 Jesus told his deciples the signs of the end. I look at it this way. We have always been in the end times. In this generation, things have increased. Jesus stated that lawlessness would abound. Goodness gracious, just watching the news bares that out. He also said that there would be signs in the heavens and earth. I believe that we are seeing that now. I am 53 years old, so I have seen a few things in my life. Never before have I heard about so many auroras showing in the sky, the solar flares as bad as they have been, earthquakes. The EQ map for my state alone has gotten more cluttered looking over the months. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsUS/Maps/US10/32.42.-125.-115.html
The California fire, said to be the worst in recorded history. The Bark Beetle before that, (plague) to add fuel to the fires becuse of all the dead trees. You don't have to hit me in the head with a brick to see the writing on the wall. Also, the love of many has waxed cold like the bible states. This is the Christians that have become this way. I have never talked to so many cold dead Christians in my life on Christian boards who want to fight, name call etc. This just isn't right!!!!
What exactly BonoMan are you waiting for as far as the end times? They are here.

I would almost say "shame on you" for this post! You know nothing about who I am... You are giving this advice to the wrong guy. I spent most of my life under a tyrannical communist regime, attending an underground church and fearing for our lives on a daily basis. It was wonderful and I wouldn't trade it for anything! No, we weren't fed to lions, we didn't face execution squads, and were not shipped to camps in Siberia. We were much better off than Christians living many years ago, and we appreciated that fact!

You must be a sad man to only be able to see with your flesh eyes and be blind to the reality of God's presence. The only way to appreciate God and his power is in time of need and distress. Why exactly would you need God if there would be no suffering and no pain?
You're a real sweetheart Pericles. I guess I am a sad man. I only see with my 'flesh eyes'? What are you talking about? I am a believer. Jesus Christ is my Lord. At least show me a grain of respect.

I don't know what you're talking about saying that the only way a person can appreciate God's power is in time of need and distress. I appreciate Him just as much when things are going great in my personal life. And I'm sure most believers appreciate their blessings as I'm sure you do too.

You have the same attitude that many American missionaries had when visiting Eastern Europe, feeling sorry for us because "we were in pain" and spoon-serving us Scofieldesque Christianity. No kidding...I don't need you to tell me that I live in misery, rather come and rejoice with me and thank God for it.

Your fatalist and defeatist view of the world is dictated by your theology, so why are you even bothering to make a difference at all if everything is going down the tubes? Pain, suffering, misery, wars, terrorism, floods, hunger, despots, they are all part of the dispensationalist end-time scenario. Aren't they hastening the return of Christ? Maybe you should encourage all these things, who knows, maybe God's plans can be changed and sped up...afterall the Jews were able to thwart His plans when they rejected Christ !?

Open your eyes man, like Elisha's servant! See the glory of God around you...see the parousia of Christ as a reality, see how real salvation and deliverance from death is for everyone living on this planet...THEN tell me that we live in a miserable world!

Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

You must be taking something out on me that you mad at someone else for Pericles. I quit reading your post after you started with the "you must" and "you are" drivel again. I don't know why you're so hateful and mean-spirited but it has nothing to do with me.

I am not a 'name it and claim it' guy, though I believe God will bless His people. I am not hoping that I can die ASAP because I hate this life so much, though I do look forward to being with God and for His return whether it's during my life or not.

Cut out the personal attacks, it's unnecessary.

Typical mumbo jumbo we have been hearing for 1900 years.

So much evidence that Revelations was written for events that were expected to happen in the first 200 years CE.
You didn't even notice the book is titled "Revelation" not "Revelations". What would convice me you understand the complex symbolism if you didn't even pay attention to the title? ;)

Sorry my friend, just a pet-peeve of mine. :)

Wait, you mean like the "attacks" filed with the admins here, trying to ban users from posting here because you disagree with them theologically? I have noticed how you tried several times to bait me and other people into conversations that are against forum rules...how nice of you!

All I am asking, is take responsibility for, and accept the consequences of your theology! What you believe has consequences. You obviously do not like these consequences.

You can't have your cake and eat it too!

God said it, I just repeated His Word. I call it like I see it Hitch. Some people have the heart of a stump, and it shows. People need to pretend like they are talking to Jesus on the other side of their screens. He called things like He saw them also. He called men whitewashed tombs if you recall? That's pretty bad don't you think?

Well if your right then I guess my asking you to come fishing with me will be a waste of time.

Revelation 16:3 - Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.

But it doesn't matter , i'll get myself another hobby. :)

Thank you for your reply!
Well I have thinking about end times today, As I read the paper everyday it seems laws are being removed everywhere quite quickly e.g. (homosexuality) yes it makes me angry!!! There is definitely moral decay happening but I didn’t think it would have anything to do with earthquakes I looked on that site and it said in the question section (Although it may seem that we are having more earthquakes, earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained fairly constant throughout this century and, according to our records, have actually seemed to decrease in recent years) IF it shows somewhere else on that site that they increased over last few months I might believe you! And these things could be birth pangs if there has been a big increase. By his grace, you have seen the world a lot longer than me I understand you have noticed changes. God Bless

Are we in end times? No. Are we getting close to end times? I think we are! When the world is in fear then it will be end times. Some people who get Obsessed with end times turn into some sort of extremist! Just look at jhessels thread LOL.

[Quote by Pericles (Every single thing concerning human culture and society is actually BETTER. There is less poverty, less violence and less crime) Quote]

And I thought jhessels thread was crazy!!!!! Have you got some stats to back up those wild claims? GOOD GRIEF!

Jesus fed the 5000 with fish and bread in a non-capitalistic manner.

It is important not to misjudge the structures of communism merely because

human "communists' made errors.

Christ did not leave the people to fend for themselves on a "survival of the fittest" scheme when He took charge of that feeding session. He shared equally for all in a communistic-like manner.

Deluded misplaced tyranny is wrong

Jesus did not say that earth quakes would increase , he said that there would be earthquakes in various places.

However if we add to that the birth pangs , then we are looking for an increase in earth quakes to be happening on a world wide scale , rather than an increase in the magnatude of earth quakes.

And don't worry about what Pericles or any other preterist says , these guys will even tell lies if they have too , to maintain there preterist beliefs.

I have debated with athiests who agree that the world is in trouble , kinda makes you wonder doesn't it.

Oh yeah...Jesus the red commie. I almost forgot about this one! Sorry, that doesn't fly with me. Jesus didn't preach communism! He preached individual responsibility, charity, love and compassion. Communism has nothing in common with Christ's message. Multiplying a few pieces of bread to feed thousands of people if compassionate capitalism at its best!
