When we come to Jesus Christ we are forgiven of ALL our sins, they are remembered no more. We are washed and cleansed of all unrighteousness. This is truly beyond awesome. It is important to remember that although we blow it:

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I find this verse interesting.
2 Sam 22:22-25
22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
23 For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
24 I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.
25 Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.
(KJV)

This was all said after the Bathsheba incident and his numbering the people all of wich was sinful. Notice the last phrase, "in his eye sight." God remembers our sins no more and we can do the same. When God forgives he realy forgives. We are righteous in "his sight"

Amen, Mandy!
This is one of my favorite verses pertaining to your statement:

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake,
And I will not remember your sins.

Isaiah 43:25

Man this is a good thread. I know I used to have the biggest struggle with forgiveness because when people upset me or have hurt me in the past I was not always quick to forgive. It is something that I really had to work on. I think I have found it so hard because I grew up in a very disfunctional family and I was so angry and bitter because of my own victimization, I just hardened in some way and was unable to forgive.

But through Jesus all things are possible and now I am able to forgive much more easily since I have been really trying hard to follow God's will.

Forgiveness is a choice we make to not hold something against someone who has wronged us. Forgiveness is not a feeling. There are people out there that rub us the wrong way, I call them sand paper people. Some are just not likable, but we can love them, because we can do all things through Jesus. He helps us to forgive and love.

 Goodmorning all !

You know what's funny about forgiveness ? To me anyway, when I recently returned to Jesus, the most difficult thing for me was a.)forgiving myself and b.)accepting that I deserved to be forgiven. Gosh that was hard. It's awful when you sin and make bad choices that hurt other people you love. For me ,forgiving the one who hurt me,was easier then forgiving myself for being so easily deceived.

When we can't or won't forgive people who have hurt us,it really doesn't hurt them as much as it hurts us.After awhile it doesn't hurt them at all ! They move on,but bitterness and anger and hate will continue to live in you,and make us very unhappy people.

Matthew 6:14
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Matthew 6:15
But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Sometimes in our walk,we forget how much God truly does hear our cries for help.PRAY ,pray ,pray.I believe he so much wants to give us the desires of our heart, and if anyone truly wants to forgive,I believe he will help us to do that !

Keep a prayer journal.Everyday, write down your prayers.Write down the things you would like Jesus to do in your life.

One thing my Pastor told me last week was,God works in HIS OWN TIME> it's never fast enough for us.Look at Abraham, and how long he and Sarah wanted a son...after 100 years God gave him one.Gods time is never in our time.

By keeping a journal however, you can look back ,over the months, and see what he has done for you, sometimes without even knowing it !But you look back over the course of time, and see how many prayers he really did answer for you!!

Godbless us all,in our search for him,and our desire to be more like him!!!

Living for him !

Excellent point! So many people wait, thinking they have to feel something to be able to act on it. I've learned that forgiveness, just like love, is a choice we make, and most times feelings will come AFTER I've made the choice of obedience. I often struggled with "what does forgiveness look like?" For me, I learned that it meant no longer expecting the one who hurt me to make it up to me. So often, we subconsciously have these expectations or requirements that someone make up for what they did, even tho intellectually we know they can't. It helped me to understand how to forgive. It's still too early in the morning for me to be making any sense, so you will all have to forgive me if what I just said makes you [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] your head and say , "huh?". :)

LOL Redeemed1! You made perfect sense.:)
Although slightly off topic here, I think it is very important for Christian to understand that it is ok to feel hurt and anger, but to not let those feelings cause us to sin.
I believe that often times when we choose to forgive, it can bring a stronger sense of conviction to the one who offended.
