-- New King James
Matthew 18:1-5 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?'' And Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. "Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "And whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

-- New King James
Matthew 19:13-14 Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.''

-- New King James
Mark 9:35-37 And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.'' Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, "Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.''

-- New King James
Mark 10:13-15 Then they brought young children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.

-- New King James
Luke 18:15-17 Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when His disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.''

I believe in my heart to Jesus uses the children as examples because they are innocent until they become accountable (know the difference between good and bad and the consequences of their actions) and that age can really only be known by God. I have to say I am bias on this subject though, my wife and I lost 3 children. I know these babies could not have, like we would, accept Christ as their Savior but at the sametime I have no doubt they are with the Father in heaven now.

It would be good to hear other people's convictions on this though :)
God Bless

Children are to be brought up in the nurture and admonishon of our Lord. They are also sactified by the parents belief. They are not expected to anything more than Godly children - after they have finished being children they are to put away childish things.........
A disciple is a " disciplined one" , such are those brought up in the nurture and admonishon of the Lord!
