What do you feel is the purpose of your life? What do you feel God has put you here on this earth to do? What is His Will for you? In general terms or more specifically it doesn't matter, I am just interested in a discussion on this topic.

Can you give me Bible references as to what we are here to do?

Thanks ya'll, I will start it off.

In general, I think that we are here to love one another and Glorify and Worship God.

What about you? What do you think God created us for and put us here for, what is our purpose?

[Note: I put this in this forum for Christians to answer, because I am a Christian, I may put it in the Apologetics forum also to see what unbelievers think, as I think it may edify them also]

Mathew 22:37-40

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greates commandment and the second is like it "Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hand on these two commandments."

Mathew 5:43

"You have heard it said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore as your heavenly Father is perfect.

I think we must spend our lives perfecting our love for one another as well as ourselves. We are to love one another as we love ourselves. If we don't love ourselves how than can we love another. I use to think I didn't need to love myself because it was self centered but I am learning the importance of it.

Love and God Bless

Knowing God and having a personal relationship with God and then going out to let everyone know about God. If you really want to find out what God's purpose is for you, pray and fast about it. He'll definitely let you know. :)

Gods will for me changes from time to time. Right now I am raising 3 foster kids. This is no doubt his will for my life. I am 47 yr old I didn't want to start raising kids all over again. I am a grandpa for crying out loud. But God had other plans and now I have twin 6yr old girls and their 4 yr old brother. I love them to pieces and thank God for them. They have all the mental problems you might think but we are working on that.

I went for a time in my life when I was willing to do Gods work but didn't know what he wanted. I read Spurgeon on this and he made a great point. He said when judging the prodution of good fruit remember it is not always harvest season. It is not prudent to judge a fruit tree of it's fruits in winter.

You see God will show you his will but sometimes it is just for you to grow a little more cause when you finaly see his will you will see that you were not ready but now you are.

Sometimes I really wonder what is the purpose of life, or maybe just my life...
I know what you mean. I'm a freshman in High School, and I have NO IDEA what I want to do with my life. Well, there's too many things I want. Hmmm I dunno again haha see!

I want to be a writer, but only really good ones make good money. I'd love to be an architect, yeah that would be cool. It would be AWESOME to own a famous golf resort! I'd have alot of people run the place for me, I would get to golf for free, and I would have tons of time to write. One day they are going to hold a major at my golf course. My dream? To be a pro golfer. It's not too far fetched either, I'm only 15 and I go about 4-5 times a week. It would be nice living off Nike promotions and doing some I love to do.

I gotta keep playin though, and I gotta keep prayin. :) Wish me luck.

Everyone should read and study as often as they can the Sermon on the Mount starting in the 5th chapter of Matthew and also the Book of Ephesians. Esp. the Book of Ephesians has the answer to these questions.

God's will is that in the fullness of time, all who are in Heaven and Earth will be gathered together in Christ Jesus. That is the work He is doing in our lives to prepare us to gather us in that day. That means our tongue must be under God's control and we are to love one another.

Ephes. 1:9-10 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, [10] that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth--in Him.

I agree with Messener that perfecting out love for others and God is one, but I also will add Matt. 28:16-20:

18 - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
