Hi everyone, I am concerned for my Dads spiritual life. He is 61 years old and a severe Alcoholic, he does not believe in God, he says "when you die thats it, you just lay in your grave".

My Uncle Pat (my Dads brother) passed away almost 2 years ago, he lived right down the road from my Dad (in Michigan), and my Uncle Pat was the closest thing to a spiritual leader my Dad had (even though my Dad thought him a fanatic, he loved him so), my Uncle Pat was a very much a man of God, his love for Jesus was immense (God chose to take him at the young age of 49).

Anyway my Dad is very set in his ways, unfortunately me and my Dad had a falling out the year my Uncle Pat died, and my Dad is not a forgiving person, so he will not talk to me, and is certainly not open to any Christianity.

So I would like to say a prayer for him.

Dear Jesus in Heaven, Please hear my prayer, please soften my Dads heart and help him to find a way to hear your word and become a believer, I beg for your intervention in this matter, please let someone or something come into his life that will change his heart and mind.

Please Jesus, with his alcoholic habits, his life on earth is certainly going to be shortened, and I beg of you to come into his life so that his eyes may be opened before it's too late.

Jesus, In your name I pray,
Amen

Sean,
Sean,
I just want to pray with you.

Father,
I pray now for Sean's father. Lord, he must be in such pain. He has a hole in his heart that needs to be filled by you Lord just like everyone on this world. But he can't feel that gap when it is filled with alcohol. Lord, open his eyes and heart that he can see what he is missing from his life - relationships. Relationships with you Father, and a relationship with his son.
Lord, I pray for Sean, that he can hold fast during this turmoil and Lord I pray that he will see your miraculous work, that his father will come to him to learn more about the good news.
Lord, we do pray that your healing hands and indominable spirit will touch Sean's father life, but we pray for patience, and kindness, and understanding also, that we can keep proclaiming and praising your names to even the most obstinate and seemingly hopeless people. For we know that no one is without hope that can hear your voice.

We pray all this in Jesus' name,

Amen.

Faterh God in Heaven, first I want to agree with Badfish and Louisa. I want to Praise Your precious, Holy Name. Hallielujah!
Father, speak to Badfish's dad. Speak to his heart now. I ask you do not hesitate.
Bring conviction about his relationship with You.
Bring conviction to him about his alcohol use. Bring conviction about his relationship with his son. Cast out any demonic oppression or suppression having to do with these things. Hallielujah Hallielujah Hallielujah!
There is no one like you, Father.
Abba, Father, show your love and patience to his dad. Make him understand. Show him a taste of your freedom. The freedom from the chains that bind us and keep us from relationship with you.
Open his eyes to the burden he can release, Father in heaven, through you. Show him the freedom he can have by forgiving instead of carrying anger, and coldness in his heart.
And for Sean, that you would let him know by a sign from You,
Abba, Father, that You are answering his prayer. Give him the joy in You that he will know You will not ever forsake him, Lord God in heaven.
Thank you, Lord
I Praise Your Name, I Glorify Your Holy Name. You are love. You are my comfort.
Hallielujah Hallielujah Hallielujah !
Amen! Amen! Amen!

Badfish,
I am glad to pray for you. My dad was once very cold to me also.
He used to accuse me of saying evil things about him behind his back to people I did not even know. Call me names, hang up on me, etc. I did not even see or talk to him for about 3 or 4 years at one point and we live in the same city. But God brought him around and now we are friends. I would like him to live more of a Christ like life, but one step at a time. God will finish His work in Him. I am confident of that.

Thanks for the encouragement solo, Unfortunately my Dad is as 'HARD' hearted as they come, seriously! He has held a grudge against my brother for over 15 years and has not budged an inch to reconcile.

I just don't want to see him die without at least having a chance to hear the word of God, if my Uncle pat could not do it, then there is only one force in this universe that can actually open his ears and that is the almighty Christ.

I pray that Jesus will touch his heart so he can be saved!

Yes, but has anyone been praying for him all this time? Have you?
Makes a huge difference in my experience.

Father, in your name i lift my voice with these guys, we ask you to bring glory to your name in this family. I ask you to bring salvation into Sean's dad's life. I tank you that you have heard every prayer that have rised to you, and I thank you that you've seen Sean's heart, his passion and love for you and for his earthly father. I thank you for being with Sean everyday, you're walking with him at home 2, even if his father isn't a believer. Lord I ask you to set this man free from alcoholism, set him free from all this and give him a heart that is burning fro you. Father, we know that took back the power of satan thorugh the cross, and we know that you will take this man into your arms and set him free from all bondage. So we stand on your word and proclaim salvataion over this dad, we proclaim your victory!

Lord, we pray this in faith and in Your Son's nam; Jesus Christ. Bring glory to Your name! Amen and Amen

Badfish,

I know EXACTLY where you coming from. I'm living the same thing and will pray both for you dad and mine! I'll tell you a little about mine and maybe we can relate to each other. My dad (David) as far as I know never has been Christian. Parents got divorced when I was about 11 and I went with my mom. 13 years later we find out he has maybe has 2 years at best to live because of his drinking problem. When I come to visit family and friends in my hometown from 4 hours away he changes plans and goes out drinking instead, even on my birthday. He now may be getting a 2nd divorce because he has refused to get help. He's now in jail for his 3rd DWI, will probably miss my wedding and might end up in prision for several years. I'll pray that they both can fight off this terrible worldy temptation of drinking and also bring God into their lives and learn to know what living is.

:( While it's incredibly hard to live life under the leadership of dads that don't exactly look to God for guidance in life...(I don't think anything is quite like the destruction of alcohol you guys face) I THANK GOD that He's given all of us a chance to know what an Awesome Heavenly Father we can all claim...

I know that my father had a "salvation experience" when he was a teenager...but he has abandoned any real committment to God long ago. I cannot imagine how much harder it would be if he'd been abusive or alcoholic or any of that, but I know that it's draining to be under the authority of one who has no sense of ...well, Godly authority.

I will most assuredly keep praying, Sean, Solo, Sam, and Project...God is a God of awesome changes...
