First woman

Hi gang!

He didn't "create" woman -- he "made" her.

God named her "Eve" , after the word "Evening". Evening is the "dusk" period of time, just before total darkness of the night.

Love IN Christ - Hervey

ahh..... Adam named Eve.

Gen 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

From the Hebrew, Chavvah khav-vaw'

causatively from; life-giver; Chavvah (or Eve), the first woman:--Eve.

Adam.

"Called their name Adam"

Interesting!

That must be a little KJV misinterpretation. That's the problem with those Byzantine manuscripts! That will make the 'KJV Only' people have a fit. Haha

LOL! That'll teach em.

Using the verses provided at http://bible.gospelcom.net/

NIV - he called them "man."

NASB - He blessed them and named themMan in the day when they were created.

NKJV - called them Mankind in the day they were created.

NLT - called them "human."

Actually, dosent Adam mean man?

Looking at different translations is interesting, to say the least ! :)

Adam or "adam"

Adam is the first man's name

"adam" means "Man of the earth" - and in the OT, the color "Red"

Like I said earlier -- Woman was not created, she was made.

She was made of the "Man"(adam) called Adam (Name)

Gen. 5:2 tells us who the "them" was --- male and female

Not man and woman, but male and female, in the "One" Man (adam) , Adam (Name)

God is a singular - plural God.

There is only "One" Lord God Almighty, but he is both male and female, just like the "first adam" (Man). Whom God created in "His own image" - Gen. 1:27.

So , let me ask you all a question:

Which translation is correct ? :)

Hervey!

come on man. Are you just playing a word game or what? I really hope your j/k'n. God made man- male and female...that is to say mankind...man cannot and never could reproduce without male and female..that is what is being taught..that humankind is procreative..sure they hadn't procreated yet, but God knew they would..and he prepared them..besides that he mde them..male and female... that is he made Adam of the dust... he made eve of adam...

oh and by the way God called her woman... not adam... he called them adam..which again refers to mankind..and suports the oneflesh relationship in marriage.

The following Bible versions also use the name 'Adam' in Gen 5:2...

-The Douary-Rheims Bible
-The American Standard Version
-The Third Millennium Bible
-The World English Bible
-The Darby Translation
-The Hebrew Names Version of World English Bible
-Webster's Bible Translation
-The Latin Vulgate

'Adam' does translate to 'Man', 'Mankind' or 'First Man'.

I hope this helps. :)

You're all wrong. It was "Lilith". Note the following story from the Alphabet of Ben Sira:

Soon afterward the young son of the king took ill. Said Nebuchadnezzar, "Heal my son. If you don't, I will kill you." Ben Sira immediately sat down and wrote an amulet with the Holy Name, and he inscribed on it the angels in charge of medicine by their names, forms, and images, and by their wings, hands, and feet. Nebuchadnezzar looked at the amulet. "Who are these?"
"The angels who are in charge of medicine: Snvi, Snsvi, and Smnglof. After God created Adam, who was alone, He said, 'It is not good for man to be alone' (Genesis 2:18). He then created a woman for Adam, from the earth, as He had created Adam himself, and called her Lilith. Adam and Lilith immediately began to fight. She said, 'I will not lie below,' and he said, 'I will not lie beneath you, but only on top. For you are fit only to be in the bottom position, while I am to be the superior one.' Lilith responded, 'We are equal to each other inasmuch as we were both created from the earth.' But they would not listen to one another. When Lilith saw this, she pronounced the Ineffable Name and flew away into the air. Adam stood in prayer before his Creator: 'Sovereign of the universe!' he said, 'the woman you gave me has run away.' At once, the Holy One, blessed be He, sent these three angels to bring her back.

"Said the Holy One to Adam, 'If she agrees to come back, fine. If not, she must permit one hundred of her children to die every day.' The angels left God and pursued Lilith, whom they overtook in the midst of the sea, in the mighty waters wherein the Egyptians were destined to drown. They told her God's word, but she did not wish to return. The angels said, 'We shall drown you in the sea.'

"'Leave me!' she said. 'I was created only to cause sickness to infants. If the infant is male, I have dominion over him for eight days after his birth, and if female, for twenty days.'

"When the angels heard Lilith's words, they insisted she go back. But she swore to them by the name of the living and eternal God: 'Whenever I see you or your names or your forms in an amulet, I will have no power over that infant.' She also agreed to have one hundred of her children die every day. Accordingly, every day one hundred demons perish, and for the same reason, we write the angels names on the amulets of young children. When Lilith sees their names, she remembers her oath, and the child recovers." (Stern and Mirsky, eds. 183- 184)
