Healing

Can someone pls repost the purpose for this thread? I am confused...

JohnR7 - I pray that you will be alive when Jesus returns. I also pray for Jesus' quick return and that it will be within my lifetime. Since not even Jesus knows when He will return, I cannot think that I know when that time will be either. Because of Jesus Christ, I am prepared to be taken with Him if He comes during my life on this earth. Because of Jesus, I am also prepared that God may call me home through a physical death on this earth prior to His return. Because of Jesus I do not fear physical death. When a Christian is in great suffering from a physical illness, death can be God's answer and healing.

Paul states in Philippians 1:21 "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

My husband had Jesus Christ in his life and he lived to serve Him and bring Him Glory. One of the greatest sermons my husband preached was by his death. The number of lives that were changed for Jesus not only by God working through my husband's life, but also through his physical death was awesome. God heals in many ways and it is always to bring God Glory and for His Good and perfect will.

I was not suggesting that we ask God to make a deal to be healed. I do believe that Jesus paid for my sins. I also believe that the scriptures tell us that the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. As long as I live in this fleshly body, Satan will throw temptations my way.

My Bible notes say the following regarding the scripture you have referred to 1 John 3:9):

As born again Christians, we do have a new nature, but we also still have the old one. That is why the scriptures tell us to examine our Christian walk in the light of God's Word. The new nature does not commit sin - cannot sin. The old nature does sin any time we let it. As a child of God, we will keep under the old nature by not yielding to the desire of the flesh; or the old nature will keep us under, and we will live a defeated Christian life.

If I am walking in the old nature, it can block God's healing in my life due to disobedience.

That's what my church and I are believing for too! We believe the rapture is very near and hope to be the genration "who are alive and REMAIN (ie able to put off sickness and death)". There's a good chance that it'll be in my lifetime! Of course, no one is setting dates. But He did give us signs for the seasons.

James 5:14ff, If your sick call for the elders and let them pray for you!
