Has Your Prayer Life Ever Gone Completely Dry?

I believe GOD answeres our prayers, but there ae times when we doubt it. I have just been in a period of time like that and I still have some doubts. But what is coming through loud and clear is that sometimes GOD answeres them in babysteps; or a little at a time so that we don't get spoiled (maybe?).I'm not really sure. I wish that my prayer for help could be answered all at once, but it seems that it isn't going to be. I hope I can make the riht decisions as GOD puts them befor me, so my prayers can be granted as I need them.

Do you think it is always when our will is out of sync with His that our prayers go dry?

I know that some other scriptural reasons are sin, and failure of husbands to treat their wives correctly.

But it can also be because satan hinders the messenger as when david prayed but received no answer because the angel that was bringing the answer had to stop and fight with a demon that did not want the answer to get through...

I am sure that trust is the key, like amie said....

Anybody else have this experience? What did you learn from it?

This can be what the saints called the Dark Night of the Soul. The light from God overwhelms and blinds us, but when we come through this experience we are much more intimately united with God. The key is fidelity, perseverance, trust. Keep doin what you been doin, everything will be better than before.

Yes, Patriarch:

I have read that. St John of the Cross wrote the poem, which became a book, The Dark Night of the Soul. Great read for the hurting.

The message is that our trial is to purify us... Bring us closer to Him.

Perseverance develps character, and character, hope...

Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained R185 our introduction by faith into this grace in R186 which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

There is a promise of fruit.

But it is no fun to be separated from intimacy with God.

Shelah.

Absolutely. Mine has been 'dry' for some time now. I am undergoing some serious trials and I'm praying really hard but my faith seems to have taken a hit as I've failed to see God moving in my circumstances. When I thought He was, when it looked like things were going to improve, my hopes were raised; but when things got worse, I was confused and hurt; very disappointed with God...just as I know He is with me.

I'd love to be in a place in my spiritual life where I can see what God is doing as He does it, not realize it long after the fact. As long as I'm observing God from a distance, I know I'm missing out on something.

God made me three promises three or four years ago and I've prayed hard for their fulfillment since then. I believe He's partially fulfilled one of them - a wife (at least, a fiance.....2800 miles away). I blame myself for not seeing these promises fulfilled, as though I've done something to negate the promises, or failed to do something that will make them come about. But as I think of this, I know that God didn't say He'd do what He said if I did so-and-so. He doesn't lie, His timing is perfect, He's just and full of grace......still, my faith is not as strong as it should be. If I could just hear from Him so I'd know what He wants me to do, or not do; just to let me know that He's not turning His back on me inspite of my sins and failures...then I know my faith would grow. Just as Abraham's grew after he saw what God did with his 'dead' body.

I'd appreciate any prayers.

God Bless

God never turns his back on us.

He is sometimes silent, or sometimes it is us who cannot hear, but He always loves, always cares.

I am convinced of that, even when I cannot hear or sense His presence.

"He cares about the sparrow. Are you not worth more than a sparrow?"

I pray that you will know His presence and love again.

Sometimes i try to go about my day to day and i always end up being so unhappy. And then i remember that i had left God out of my whole entire day. I know He watches me and just shakes His head. Praying is like talking to God...and like i wouldn't not talk to my friends or my family...and our relationship grows from spending time with each other...same with me and God. Its hard, to just lay aside everything and fully turn my attention to Him...afterall He created me and the entire universe..why couldn't i give Him a few min of my time?

>>Has Your Prayer Life Ever Gone Completely Dry?

Not recently. Most of the time I can feel the presense of God. Of course we have to learn how to live Holy, Consecrated, Sanctifed lives. By that I mean we can not ever quench or grieve the Holy Spirit of God. Even an ungodly attitude like you see so much on TV will quench and grieve the Holy Spirit right out of our lives. We live in a time when the love of many is growing cold, so all the more we need to walk in God's love, one for another.

I remember when I was in Flordia, a dove was trained to sit on your hand, and he few right up to my son. I have a photo of that somewhere. It's the same way with the Holy Spirit. We can learn how to never quench or grieve the Spirit so that He is always with us. I did not think it was possible at one time, but now I know it is.

Without the Holy Spirit we have nothing, we are nothing and we will go nowhere. Jesus had the Holy Spirit, and that is why He said, He had to go to be with the Father, so that He could send or give us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was in the world with Jesus and He is in the world with us now. But HE does not draw any attention to Himself a lot of the time, He usually Glorifys Jesus or the Father. Just like everything we do, should Glorify the Father and not self. Thanks, JohnR7
