Jesus died in the afternoon on the day that he ate the passover[feast of unleavened bread],

the Jewish hierarchy however were keeping a false tradition and so this was [to them only] their day of preparation for the passover

and the next day was the false Jewish passover (annual festival)and so an annual 'sabbath' by false tradition of the Jews

this was inevitably the day when the women bought and prepared the spices ( having no respect to the false tradition exposed by Jesus by keeping passover the previous day to the Jews]

then was the weekly sabbath when the women rested

then was the early morning [still dark] when the tomb is discovered already empty

We also know there were two sabbaths that week because Matt 28:1 has 'sabbata' in the original Greek, mistranslated sabbath in the KJV, but it means SABBATHS (PLURAL!).

Thus counting back from the morning

(we would call it Sunday morning early, just before dawn)

we find that Jesus died on what we would call Thursday afternoon, not Friday at all

Thus the 3 days are Thursday till sunset, Friday till sunset, Saturday till sunset, and the three nights follow the days [Hebrew days start at sunset , not midnight, according as it is written]

so that Jesus rose 'Saturday' night which ended at dawn Sunday.

Thus , just as he said he would, Jesus was three days and three nights in the ground, and he kept the sign of Jonah {how could anyone doubt that he would keep this sign?]

but Easter is a celebration of pagan origin

[goddess Ishtar and Easter eggs are pagan traditions , nothing to do with God, the bible or Jesus Christ

...Easter is mentioned once in KJV but it is a mis-translation of Passover]

[Easter is not ordained by God at all but Passover certainly is!]

Easter makes our Lord out to have lied and been a fraud,

how can people celebrate it?

except by blindly following of a [apostasised church] pagan tradition without questioning and proving it

without thinking too much what they are doing or why,

following priests maybe in good faith who ,even if they know, are helpless to reform church traditions without risking losing their livelihood

- thus the abomination is perpetuated.

Read about passover, it is nothing like Easter.

All of the ritual of passover has been fulfilled by recorded history in the bible

so we are left with a meal with wine ,

an ANNUAL ceremony that Jesus said as often as we keep it we should do so in remembrance of him,

we are also instructed not to partake of it unworthily,

meaning that we must be ready to go through His trial, temptation, and unjust suffering for the sake of our faith and actions of love in the world, accepting our time of trial when it arrives [baptism of 'fire']

If we read about passover we can see clearly that all aspects of it point to Jesus' death,

ironically he was able to celebrate his own victory in death because the Jews had been blinded to the falseness of their tradition

[ by God,]

so they sacrificed the Lamb of God on the wrong day!

It makes me sad to see the churches stuck one more year in pagan tradition of easter, not celebrating Passover as Jesus did and said those worthy could do in remembrance of him, how can the churches have lost touch with the memorial of jesus Christ's death ???!!!

Interesting piece of 'detective work' to explain the disparity in number of days in the tomb.. However, does it really hold up to scrutiny against the Gospel records? The three synoptic writers all identify Jesus as eating the Last Supper on the the First Day of Unleavened Bread, with both Mark and Luke specifically saying this was the day when the Passover Lamb was sacrificed. (None of them make any mention of a 'true' and 'false' tradition.) John, however, states that the Passover meal was yet to be eaten when Jesus was beoing tried (thus the Jew's fear of making themselves unclean), but all 4 identify the crucifixion as taking place on the day of Preparation - for the Sabbath which followed, so maybe you do havew a point. However, according to Leviticus (or is it Deuteronomy - see my previous post) the only 'extra' Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened Bread was on the Seventh Day - ie the end of the week, which began with the slaughter of lambs.

Jesus clearly told the disciples when to prepare Passover and ate it in the falsely re-named 'Last Supper' ONE DAY before the Jews ate theirs.... thus we have the real feast of unleavened bread on the same Hebrew day [from sunset Jerusalem] as the Jews false passover [it has to be unlikely that Jesus got it wrong, so it has to be the jews that made the mistake in dates by their tradition - that Jesus did speak against]

During this week , there was a certain day that was going to be the fourteenth day of the first month, which was the Lord's passover. At even the Jews were to start this passover. They could not defile themselves on the Lord's passover, so they could not go into the judgement hall - John 18:28. In this verse , we can understand that the "day" the Romans brought Jesus to the judgement hall , it was already the first day of the passover. In verse 31 the Jews were told by Pilate to take Jesus and judge him according to your law ( Jewish law ). But the Jews said that it was not lawful to put any man to death. Which is not true, "unless" these Jews were speaking about this period of time of the passover. Which is what it was !

The first day of the week - Sunday - Jesus eats with his disciples the last supper. The second day of the week - monday - Jesus entered the garden which was over the brook Cedron. This is where Judas betrays Jesus and he is taken captive. He was taken to Annas first. Then on tuesday they brought him to the high priest Caiaphas. Then on the day of the passover, wednesday early morning - Mark 15:1 - they brought him to Pilate. Pilate finds him innocent. Pilate gives the Jews an option to either crucify Jesus or Barabas. Barabas becomes the scape goat and the Jews let him go. The Jews cry out to crucify him, but they, under their law would not, because of the passover. They crucified him on Wednesday, and just before sunset Joseph took the body of Jesus down and before sunset had fully come , put him in the cave ,and rolled a huge stone in front of it. This starts the three nights and three days. If one can add, then three days and three night latter, just before sunset -- which would be Saturday evening, before sunset, the seventh day, God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

:) :D ;) :holy:

14th - Wednesday - Jesus dies - buried "before" sunset

Wednesday night into Thursday morning - (1st night)

15th - Thursday after sunrise until sunset - (1st day)

Thursday night until Friday morning - (2nd night)

16th -Friday after sunrise until sunset - (2nd day)

Friday night until Saturday morning - (3rd night)

17th - Saturday after sunrise until just before sunset (3rd day) - God raised Christ from the dead.

Saturday is the Lord's sabbath day - day of rest.

The prophecy had been fulfilled - three days and three nights.

The day after the Lord's sabbath on the first month is the wave offering. Which is the 18th day of this paticular month, and Christ was already risen ! ! Fits like a hand fits a glove !

The Word of God is perfect time and time again. It is mankind that tries to mess with the Word, but the Word is sharper than any two edge sword, and will cut asunder any false doctrine if handled correctly !

Very pretty, except you missed the fact that these are Hebrew-style days starting at sunset!
Thus Christ died on what we would call [falsely] Thursday afternoon and indeed rose the third day after spending three [Hebrew-style]days and nights in the tomb just as the bible says [but it can't be understood without realising the Hebrew context]

Another interesting point, Mark's gospel has been edited it seems to DENY the sign of Jonas [presumably to support Easter]

The sign of Jonah........ Was it really that Jesus spent 3 days in the earth as compared with three days in the belly of the great fish? I don't think so! I think the sign of Jonah was that the people repented at the Word preached.....We all know about paganism in the church and where it came from - but there is no unrighteousness in any of Jusus' actions - that's for sure - so really I couldn't care less when and how! The fact that Jesus rose again and the people repent at his Word is all there is need to know!
Very interesting question - good one!
Love Paul,
