oh and my involvement with Pat was via youth alive concerts, i don't know him as a close personal friend. just as some i used to like talking to and hear preaching.
Kinda missed all that with Pat Mesti (spelling?) - I loved watching and listening to him at Youth Alive too. He had such passion and an energy about him!

Just curious - if your pastor is that bad, why do you go there?
Is it just me, or does no one get Koey's sarcaism?

If you want I can answer it to you, however for the meantime heres a useful site.

It'll really help you with understanding the people close to you and those in the forum. That way, you'll understand why no one really answered your question...

yeh as much as i think hillsong requires also of reform to become a bride of christ/god, by being part of it, it did start a chain of events that eventually lead to christ, just took a few more years i guess...
Hillsong won't change, it's in the line of all the other prosperity gospels in the US.

The large numbers is proof to their Bible-illiterate heads, that with many people coming to it, it can't be wrong!

Frank Houston, Brian Houston's (Hillsong pastor) father. I was surprised to learn he was a pedophile, I don't think that's common knowledge.
I heard it was just child sex abuse...

Never the less, he uses that as "conviction" and "suffering" often.

I've heard that one as well....heaps!

The whole family first thing, is there to pull people away from deciding whether to vote for Liberals or Labor.

Of course, it's more favored towards Liberals, but for Labor Christians...like myself, that don't follow politics...it's fustrating and hence Family first is those light-weight parties that pull those little votes that prevents Labor from walking.

It's those shallow policies that make it so attractive...which is probably why it'll be extremely popular soon.

If you are being sarcastic about child sex abuse I would watch what you say.

What else would you call a peadophile?

No secret was made of what Houston Snr . I believe the man was severely admonished. And, to be honest, now that the man is dead I find it very distasteful to speak about whatever sins he may, or may not have committed. Respect for the dead is courtesy.
I agree.

I was not offended by you.

What offended me was Jim's sarcastic comment, and I'm sorry but that sort of thing really cheeses me, you have no idea!

You're not excused if it's empathy.

My parents are still ignorant of the psycological effects their lack of leadership in handling a situation of child abuse....

You're Child is lucky that he has a caring mother like you!

Now I think I have an understanding of what you meant. My parents have no idea of how to handle that either.

Has anyone else noticed that Family First's only Senator (Steve Fielding) isn't from an AOG church? He's from City Life, which I think is a non-denominational pentecostal church... hard to tell... not heaps of difference these days is there?
Wow..the name of that church sounds very hilly.

I've just about had it with pentacostal based churches...no offence, but then again, there's a lot of offence.

Being a person that has grown up in a family that hides it's unrepentant sins through their claim of spiritual desent to their bodies, and being arrogant and ignorant in their ways of life...clearly the Holy Spirit can't contradict it'self by saying one thing in the Bible and in reality acting another way.

I don't really have time to read over the whole five pages of this thread, sadly, because I would have liked to. I have a few hesitations about Family First, but I did vote for them. I did so because they are Christians, they are opposed to things like abortion and gay marriage and support restrictions on inappropriate contentography, etc. I am not part of the AoG church, and do have issues with them theologically. I know Family First is not the AoG church, but to see that they were started by AoG leaders or whatever, it does put me on guard straight away. I also have a few problems with a couple of things I've read about them, not that I can really recall them at the moment.

Still, I think they were the best option in my electorate, especially since Liberal were going to win by a huge majority anyway (which they did). I would have definitely voted for the Christian Democratic Party if there were a candidate in my electorate, but sadly there was not. I did vote for them in the Senate though.

Anyway I know this wasn't a "who did you vote for" thread, but I guess by saying that I voted for them shows that I think they're at least a decent party. CDP would always get my preference, though.
