I was just looking at one of the locks we have on one of the doors into our home & I though, it would not take much to get past that. So I wonder, how many of us feel safe in our home? Do we really trust in God to defend us and to protect us?

I use to go on a board and debate with people who were convinced they had a gun and that would protect them. I tried to tell them that a gun will not stop a fire, a gun will not stop a disease from attacking your family. It would be better to trust in God for protection and to defend you. I did not get very far with them. Thanks, JohnR7

here's an unknown fact that a lot of people need to know

all a robber has to do is cut the telephone wire and the people who monitor all the alarms will never get alerted that someone is breaking into your house...they wont even get told that the line had been broken...the alarm would still go off, but no mr. policeman

Sometimes I think we take our safety and God's protection for granted.

Sure, He protects us, but we still haveta lock the doors and wear a seatbelt.

My hubby and I argue about the gun thing all the time. He thinks that having a gun in the house is fine as long as it is locked up safe and secure. His reasoning is that it is for our "safety". Of course, there isn't one here now and I seriously doubt there ever will be. I look at it this way, if someone came into my home and wanted to hurt me or my family, I still would not shoot them, so what would be the point?

I think the biggest point is that God doesn't give us anything we can't handle. And praying for God's protection over our families would not hurt either.

I would definately shoot the intruder. I wouldn't kill him.her, just shoot his arms, legs, and hands. God says we should defend oruselves.

But yeah, Death is no longer something which is shunned or feared. Opposingly, death is welcomed. Be it GODS will, I'm ready to go Home whenever, where-ever. I WOULD like to have a family someday, and I would like to persue a career. I would like to live the rest of my life. but if GOD decided to take me home tomorrow, I would have absolutely no objections.

I really don't fear someone breaking into my home. If I feel sacared on a particual night, I ask GOd to keep us safe and sound, be it HIS will.

My only real fear is of friends and family of mine who have never accepted Jesus. That is my biggest, real fear. I know in Heaven that I will never be sad or anything. But right now, there is no worst feeling in my mind, then being in heaven without my mom or dad or sister. but I know I won't be it GODS will. My mom is getting closer to GOD, and my sister who is 7, is as well. And my dad has turned from a logical rationalist to a person begining to believe. The works and wonders of the Holy Ghost!

I have been the victim of crime multiple times over the years including a knife to my throat and being held in a choke hold knowing this person intended to kill me--yet have never even received a scratch--

If it's not your time you have nothing to worry about and if it is your time (absent from the body present with the Lord) you have nothing to worry about!

Love in the Lord,

Terri

shoot, if someone came into my house I am going to protect my family with everything i have in me...I'm not going to allow someone to hurt anyone in my family..yea if its God's will it's going to happen no matter what, but I will definately have a gun in my house...I'm not going to shoot to kill, but I would shoot them

and also, just because God says that He will protect us, He also tells us to protect ourselves you know...can't live your life saying "well I can walk down this dark alley, becasue if its my time, its my time". If you noticed in the Bible, Jesus always slipped away before any harm came to Him or any of His desciples...only when He knew it was His time did He not run away. So shouldnt we do the same thing?

i'm not afraid of death, i actually look forward to it.
not like i'm going to commit suicide or anything, but where am i going to go when i die? theres nothing scary about going to heaven to be with god at all. :)

my dad gave me a shotgun a while back so we could go skeet shooting together. we keep that and the rest of our guns locked away in a safe, in the garage, that i dont know the combination to.

if i ever wanted to protect my family with some means of force, it would probably be with a stun gun or mace. something non-lethal.

It's something I just never worry about.....

My wife always makes sure that she locks up at night - I probably never would, and she knows it.

BTW, did you ever realise that the fact that we have locks is evidence of sin? If there were no sin, we would need no locks as everyone could be trusted and we could leave our doors open! Come to think of it, would we need doors??

Haha I dunno about you, but here in Michigan it would get a bit nippily if I didn't have a door or a house to live in. Yeah I trust GOD also. But many people who trusted GOD have gotten hurt. Not because GOd is untrustworthy, but because thats the way things are.

My point is, GOD is AWESOME, but we need to do the necessary steps in protectiong orselves, as well as trusting GOD. Didn't JEsus say to "bring a sword"? Which tells me that we are going to have to defend ourselves in life.
