Yes! This will make it so much easier to meet other Orthodox Christian singles, hoo rah!

Meeting people is not easy, and now without school it is almost inpossible at the very least. So if one is Orthodox by all means use what you need to get to meet someone. If it is a computer go for it. It is better than being alone!

Oh, and I just thought I'd mention that the Orthodoxfriends site has not worked out for me. I contacted several guys, and some never bothered to reply, the others seem uninterested in general. I think some of them are hoping to find someone close to where they live or something. Some just seem too wrapped up in their own lives to be interested in pursuing a relationship with anyone......which makes me wonder why the heck their profiles indicate they're looking for a spouse....

i just got my first "hit" today....the person that i am talking to does not want a relationship....not sure what will happen there....

not too many people on there either....may be better off staying on forum and exchanging our info here.....

Katherine, I think launching the Cyberbabushka site is still an excellent idea. I'm on the OrthodoxFriends.com site, and while I'm not looking for a relationship but only for new friends, my experience has been similar to Tracy's. Only one person has written back, and even though this is very nice, I took my time to look around and such and my mails were not even acknowledged. Therefore, I'm led to think that many there are either too desperate to engage anyone on any other level than wedding planning, which is not healthy, or as Tracy said, too involved in their own lives. Then there's the youth/singles lists on MSN and Yahoo, which look more like personals sites, as there are plenty of introductions and absolutely no responses.

One thing for you to watch, though, is the perhaps unavoidable tendency to "market" oneself in such sites, which is objectifying and therefore un-Christian. Touting onself also detracts from, well, honesty, and truth-telling has to be the primary foundation of any such endeavor, no?

And where's your site, anyway?
