The Case for Faith: A Journalist Investigates the Toughest Objections to Christianity

The Case for Christ: A Journalist's Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus

I know he did these books (and many more)

sounds like the second one listed is the text that i've read.

was there anything in particular that you wanted to discuss from the text, that can be discussed without having read it ;) ?

I am not sure. It is about Creation and Evolution. There is a lot in it I never thought about. I wanted to see what other people may have gotten out of it.

i've read part of it so far... its really neat! brings up a lot of questions about how they can possibly still be teaching darwin in the public school system if there are so many proofs against it :)
I hope you will be so wise as to also do some research on whether his arguments actually hold up when closely examined. (My guess is they won't.)

I've read The Case for Faith, and The Case for A Creator, and I was unimpressed, bordering on disgusted. He is high on rhetoric, low on content, and what content there is is often misleading and occasionally outright lies. Very diasppointing, considering the billing he had.

I blame him for some of the poor editing, but also found that his selection of experts was either poor or the follow-up questions weren't there, or maybe he just accepted any old claim without qualification. Whatever it is, I wouldn't waste your time. I did as a favour, but I learned my lesson :)

I have read The Case for Faith and The Case for Christ. Strobel comes across as nothing more than a person who was a miserable atheist - if he was indeed an atheist. He blames atheism for misery in general, latches onto the stuff about Christianity that makes him feel purposeful and loved, and jettisons every bit of information that reminds him of atheism.

He accepts every pro-theism, pro-Jesus, pro-Creationism argument so thoroughly and so uncritically that he should almost be ashamed to call himself a journalist.

what are you talking about? he's not a journalist, he's a Christian apolegist.. a rather prolific one, at that, it would seem.

are you indicating that he is trying to claim the "unbiased" position of a journalist on this issue?

very disengenious if he is.

Oh, are you in for a treat then. Check out the full title: The Case for Faith: A Journalist Investigates the Toughest Objections to Christianity

The other books are similarly subtitled.
oh.. my....

does he work for CBS by any chance? :p

grr.. that sort of thing just irks me. he's playing to the audience's understanding that "journalists" are supposed to be neutral and simply report the facts, allowing the reader to form their own conclusion.

of course, we all know that this is a good theory that rarely holds in practice.

the text that i read, most assuredly, is not a "journalistic exploration of the topic". it is, by contrast, a straight up apolegetics text... i don't really see how it could be viewed otherwise.
