Only Two Religions

There are and always have been only two religions in the world. The most popular religion is where humans endeavour to make themselves good enough for God to accept. It preaches: "Be holy and God will love you."

But the true religion of the gospel proclaims: "this man (the God-man) receives sinners"
Luke 15:2; God "justifies the ungodly": Romans 4:5; for Christ goes to be guest with those who acknowledge themselves as sinners: Luke 19:7.

  • False religion majors in law and minors in love.
  • True religion majors in love and minors in law.
  • The first majors in what God requires of us.
  • The second majors in what God has done for us.
  • One religion puts all its stress on Christ our example.
  • The other puts its stress on Christ our substitute and representative.
  • One is a religion that leads to bondage, despair and death.
  • The other is a religion that leads to joy, salvation and life everlasting.
Scripture says that we were all ruined without asking for it and that we inherited a sinful nature. But the gospel teaches that we have all been saved without asking for it in the atoning work of Jesus our Lord. See 2 Corinthians 5:14-21. Romans 5:10, Romans 5:18-19

I hope you don't mind me commenting on some things. I really love the example you gave, but I did think a bit differenly to you.

I don't think we can do the first without fully acknowledging the second, but faith is dead if we don't worry about the first.

Again, I think by ackowledging the first, we understand better the second point.

Anyway, hope you don't mind. Great post :)

I think the point being made is that the first focuses ONLY on the first part (believe me, I know some Christians who only look at what God wants from us, not what has been given to us) Whereas the seccond group will look at both. I look at what God requires of us
Love
AND what God has given us
Love

Actually maybe the 2nd puts all emphasis on the 2nd parts and noe on 1st and what we need is a THIRD type who put equal emphasis on both?

If the axe cuts it, isn't there damage to the wood or nano-scopic damage to the axe?
could you pls elaborate it further

I can think of cults that believe this also...

  • False religion majors in law and minors in love.
  • True religion majors in love and minors in law.
What is Christianity then? None of the above....lol!!!!!!!!

  • The first majors in what God requires of us.
  • The second majors in what God has done for us.

ok........

  • One religion puts all its stress on Christ our example.
  • The other puts its stress on Christ our substitute and representative.

Can I suggest you to read up a bit of confuscious. Theres nothing really wrong, except it's a bit vague and under context...it's sort of right and sort of wrong. But theres no clear distinction or argument which you can define as an objective to be a Christian.
Scripture says that we were all ruined without asking for it and that we inherited a sinful nature. But the gospel teaches that we have all been saved without asking for it in the atoning work of Jesus our Lord. See 2 Corinthians 5:14-21. Romans 5:10, Romans 5:18-19
Not everyone is saved. Most people go to hell...and thats a sad fact...

Jesus' atonement is for the people that believed in him and are elects. Those that arn't elects, arn't benefiting his atonement. Though Atonement is sufficient for all people, but most people will not recieve it.

Many Thanks
In Christ
Jim
