Yes, using programs such as Kazaa is stealing, and I have done more than my fair share of it. However, one thing that I want to point out, is that I have a SIZEABLE CD collection, many CD's that I purchased because I liked 1 or 2 songs on the CD, and I had hoped that the CD offered something better than what the radio offered. Well, in most of the cases, the Radio song was the best one on the CD. I don't have a problem paying $16 for 10 good songs, I do have a problem paying $16 for 2 good songs, and 8 terrible songs.
Programs like Napster could have been an awesome boone to the artists, specifically, because you would pay $1-2 per song, and only download the songs you wanted, and the money would go DIRECTLY into the artists pocket.
The problem I have with the music industry as it now stands, is that you pay $16 for a CD, which the artits receives, maybe $3, out of which they have to pay for studio time, post production, etc. Its the RECORD companies that are agains napster and Kazaa...
I have been guilty of downloading illegal MP3's, but, when I consider the music worth buying, I WILL go to the record store and purchase the album, or whatever software I have downloaded.
In any case, that's my 2 cents. Take them for what they are worth.
