    A question for Calvinists

I apologize for not making myself clear. We preach the gospel because we are commanded to. Period. God has commanded obedience of all his creatures who act not knowing in advance how all things will unfold. Our obligation is obedience. I believe the real question, the one you really want...

    A question for Calvinists

Why share the gospel? The answer is quite simple, because we are called to. Our obligation to God is obedience, not full comprehension by us on how each act or each thought or each witness works in to His plan. For one to ask why should we share the gospel if God has already chosen is to...

I take everything in the Bible literally except those things that are obviously not literal.

Yes, actually I do, and here is why. Jesus is comparing His being in the tomb with Jonah being in the big fish for three days. Jesus was literally in the tomb for three days, so there is no other way to interpret this.

I'll tell you what, ed, you stick with your cult, and I'll stick with my Christ and we'll see which one of us gets to heaven. In the meantime, stand down, I'm not in the mood for your tripe today. Many thanks.

One takes Scipture in a literal sense means one takes the words for what they mean in a normal sense. For instance, we know that Christ is referred to as the Lamb of God, but we know that that doesn't mean He is a small wooly creature...or the devil, whom we have seen referred to as a "roaring...

I'm SBC, and we do not believe that all of the Bible is literal. Some is literal, some is figurative. One must use proper hermeneutics (the proper rules for interpreting Scripture)in interpreting Scripture. (Boy THAT was a mouthful!)

    Books of Enoch

Candidus wrote: Good post. I'm not certain many people actually endorse the book as canon, but just because it is not endorsed as canon does not invalidate what it might offer. After all, many seek extra-biblical information about Jesus Christ in the writings of Tacitus, Pliny the Younger...

Baptist doctrine differs from church to church because there is no formal credal statement within the Baptist denomination. Each church is as to its own.

Did Jesus come as God or as a human being?

No, you need to read on down to where Jesus says: John 10:37 "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; John 10:38 but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father." You...

Did Jesus come as God or as a human being?

Do not do me the discourtesy of inferring I am a Pharisee. I have never, in my year or so of debating you, resorted to ad hom. Let us not start now. Now, to answer your question. "Do you really THINK (rudeness edited out) that Jesus was CLAIMING to be God by saying, "I am the SON of God?"...
