    Reaching the lost

I tend to think (at this point in my journey) that the way we live our life generally speaks a lot louder than our words. If people see the values of the Kingdom in our lifestyle, the 2 or 3 words we may drop into a conversation about the Lord will carry a lot more weight than if they hear us...

    Your 3 most favourite brands

???? Whatever's reasonably priced, decent quality, relatively 'green', and not too unfairly traded! Who cares what the label says?!? My current Skoda car meets most of those criteria (and the ad. campaign is very true!) Anthony

    Christian Worldviews?

Oh, right! The obvious question is, are we under law or under grace? Now I do think there's a good case for 'constructing' an alternative society, but based on the Royal Law revealed thro' Christ - it's called the Church! Which never really has mixed well with State - perhaps in part...

If I were a rich man...

Any particular reason for buying more than one? Anthony

If I were a rich man...

To be honest, I just cannot think what anyone could possibly do with that amount of money!?! The best answer I've come up with so far is: I'd use about £60,000 to add to the proceeds of selling my current house and enable me to buy one close to my elderly mother, which I've been trying...

    How will you enjoy Christmas??

I used to have a friend who, everytime she went to the supermarket, deliberately bought all the 2-for-1 offers - one for her own family, and one for one of the poorer families in the Church. A very practical way of blessing someone at no cost to ourselves - not that a bit of personal sacrifice...

If I were a rich man...

This is  a question I often ask myself;  "If you were to win the lottery tomorrow" (fat chance, I never buy a ticket, but humour me!) "what would you do with the money?" Let's assume a fairly modest win of, say £1 million (that's around $1.3 million).  What would you do...

    How will you enjoy Christmas??

I think a big part of the answer is 'sin'. Fallen human nature tends towards selfishness and greed, which leads to 'the law of the jungle' - every man/woman for him/herself and devil take the hindmost. Survival of the fittest is what someone called it. Fittest for what, I ask myself! Anthony

    Reaching the lost

We all know Jesus told us to go out into the world with the Gospel and make disciples.  Most of us, if we're honest, would admit we're not very good at this - soem of us are just so overwhelmed by the enormity of the task we end up doing next to nothing!  So what advice could...

    Christian Worldviews?

Can someone tell me what 'Reconstructionist' means???? If it means 'getting back to the good old days', then I think someone needs to hold those days up to the mirror of the Bible! Anthony

    How then shall we live?

I'm still hoping for a response form the ultra-fundementalist lobby as to exactly why Jesus' command to sell everything and give to the poor and needy is not to be taken literally! Personally, I tend towards the gloss offered by Malcolm (Loser) in post 10 above - but then everyone knows I'm an...

    The Cult of Celebrity

That's something positive to come out of 9/11 then. This side of the pond, I detect no such change - if anything it gets worse! I notice today, David Beckham's 4 year old football boots (the ones he wore when he got sent of in the World Cup) sold for £1,500.00 .... I'm gutted; my budget only...

    How then shall we live?

Thanks , Loser and Reformationist for some very sensible input on this one. Not sure about the 'God created money' idea ;), but apart from that I agree. I'm sure the Bible itself makes an explicit link between covetousness and idolatry (tho' I can't recall the specific reference), and, as you...

    The Cult of Celebrity

The trouble is, dear Warrior, that many Christians seem to simply buy in to the whole cultural scenario in which they live - and even market it to those outside the Church by the way they conduct things within. That's why I thought it worth having a good old rant; personally I've been 'dealing...
