    Who's your favorite author?

Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore (is there an echo in here? :) ) ... the old masters like Asimov, Bradbury, Burgess, Clarke, Ellison, Vance. ... Larry Correia, Tanith Lee.

Maybe someone could shed some light on this for me.

I'm not sure there is a "normal" response to divorce. I've heard of the reaction your mother-in-law is having, though. And you're right: What she's doing is dangerous. She desperately needs counseling. Does she have any friends who could nudge her in that direction? Or another pastor? Praying...

    Any other REH fans here?

Wow, that sure stirs up memories! I read about everything REH had to offer when I was younger (Conan, Kull, Bran Mak Morn, Kane, etc.). And "Pigeons from Hell" is still terrifying. I still have some of the old paperbacks from the '60s or '70s, and I'm happy to notice that some of the Conan...

    Maria Doria Russel

Very true. Also accurate for her latest novel, "A Thread of Grace." Full of heroism but also heartbreak. But nevertheless a wonderful read.

If my body was a car

And for some of us, where the paint hasn't come off completely, it's reverted to primer gray! ^_^

    Yankee or Dixie?

Forty-nine, ah say forty-nine percent Yankee, it says! I grew up in a small town in Mississippi, spent five years in Arizona, two in Dallas and the last 18 in Louisiana. Don't see how that adds up to being a Yankee! I'd better do some studying so I can renew my Southern membership! :)

    Merry Christmas Mature Singles!

9 o'clock tonight; the usual 5-1 tomorrow. At least I'm indoors, though! :)

    Merry Christmas Mature Singles!

I second the motion. :) Hope everyone has a wonderful and meaningful Christmas! (Even those of us who happen to be working!) Randall

    Discworld

So what's No. 1? :) I don't know if I could ever narrow it down that much; I love The Last Continent, Thief of Time, Witches Abroad and Jingo. But it's a close race. Randall

    Discworld

Well, The Fifth Element is wonderful, too, of course. :) I like the whole series with Sam Vimes and the Night Watch (I was glad to see Sybil enter the picture, since she made Sam less gloomy). ... And since I have to travel next week, I want my own Luggage ASAP. :) Randall

    Divorced and the "holidays"...

My first, too, and I expect it to be both strange and uncomfortable. But I have a teenage daughter to consider, so I'll be keeping a cheerful face. :) Rand

    I Can't Let Him Go

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it just takes time to get over something this traumatic. I'm going through something similar, and I want to be better NOW, not later. :) It doesn't work that way. Try to be kind to yourself while you're healing, too. A therapist friend of mine says...

    Discworld

Oh, the Luggage! Yes, it (he?) is a wonderful invention. :)

    Discworld

I'd have to pick either "Jingo" or "The Last Continent" as my favorite, but Death and the witches would be a close second. But the Librarian and Death are the top individual characters -- how could anyone who loves to read NOT love the Librarian? :) Rand

    Wellbutrin SR

In general, Wellbutrin supposedly energizes more than other antidepressants, so your feeling shaky might be the stimulant effect at work. I took it for a while to counteract the drowsiness caused by Celexa (ADD). It did wake me up, but it also made me very irritable. ... Btw, Wellbutrin is...
