I don't see why you can't say "It's not the kind of thing I prefer," and still be okay. Everyone has different tastes, especially in foods, so such should never be an insult, if it's explained with kindness.

As long as they don't regulate my own celebration of Christmas, then I am grateful. I don't care if others don't celebrate Christmas the way I do. It is to be expected even. But, especially in America, one can freely celebrate Christmas as Christ, our Savior's birth.

It sounds right to me. I think of Jesus dying on the cross knowing so many, so undeserving, might never accept the great gift he gave us all. But, when we do understand grace this way, it changes your life forever.
