For anyone interested there is a very good book on this that I would recommend (apart from the Bible!) It is "Do dogs go to heaven" by M Jean Holmes. I found the fact it continually references the Bible as final authority exactly what I wanted. And who can argue with that?

Only when all parties make an effort is reconciliation possible.
