    taking a break from cf

I may completely change my mind on this, but for now I am taking a break from CF. This is really the subforum that matters the most to me, so I thought I'd let you lot know. I frankly don't have the energy to learn how wiki works, what the forum specific rules are on each forum I want to post...

For those of you who are . . .

Can I be candid Uncle Bud? This is not a personal thing. I have a huge amount of respect for you and am friends on here with many who would call themselves liberal. But for me, theologically, I find liberalism very difficult. As a conservative christian I value absolutes. I don't claim to have...

Should we stick a fork in it.....?

I'm not sure what's gone on in STR the last month - having been away. But prior to that I can say that I believe STR was the best congregational forum, actually best forum in any category, on CF, and a model of how CF could operate if it were encouraged to. Sure we disagree on stuff, but we...

    CC congregation description

I'm not sure. Maybe something about the unchanging and all knowing nature of the God we worship. Take in the omni's - omnipotent, imutable, etc. those fun big words. Incedently there is a kids song from a popular christian childrens mucisian over here that has the word imutable in it.

    Small Group Studies

This is what I was going to suggest too. They also have two 'levels' of studies for a want of better words. They have their standard ones they have been putting out for years. Now they have a new series also - Pathways. These are on the same books, topics, etc, but are simpler and shorter...

    Anglican / Episcopal

With regard to Spong there was a response to his latest visit and book on the Sydney Anglican site. It is written by one of the NT lecturers from the Theological College for the diocese. http://your.sydneyanglicans.net/culture/reading/jesus_for_the_non_religious

Ummm - I think you may have misunderstood something about calvinism there....

What would option 3 look like

This is an excellent point. Unity at all costs has too high a pricetag. I think we need to recognise that we disagree fundamentally on some things, and that that is ok. Not that there is no truth - there is truth. God knows that - he does not have multiple truths - just one. We are all...

What would option 3 look like

This idea has merits. I'd love to see it discussed further though.

    Major Confusion - please help

I'll quote something I read the other day. "To call someone who is not as if they are is not loving" or words to that effect. I am not advocating judgement, but just read Titus and see how strongly God values and desires discernment. Ministry can happen anywhere, but 'a ministry' is...

    announcement and important vote

I couldn't be bothered with the discussion - I skipped to the last page to see what was on that instead. It's up to page 98. I think the question is loaded though. It is hard to imagine it will be taken very seriously when the question is worded the way it is.

At Crossroads -- Cf's Vision Discussion Thread - Please Vote in Poll Thread

I have to disagree with you there Timothy. It did exist. However I doubt it was the type expected, or to the extent expected, by those who have concerns. I can't really expand on that, but I would say that I believe greater transparency is a huge issue with the previous structure. Not...

    Anglican / Episcopal

Sorry - I was on holidays and came back to this mess. I have no idea what is going on in STR - there were too many threads to track. Feel free to pm me.

    Major Confusion - please help

Yes we are all called to be ministers - but that doesn't make CF a ministry. If I go to the pub with friends and we minister to people while we are there, we are doing ministry, but the pub isn't a ministry, just a location. CF is now just a location where ministry may occur - it used to...
