    Fun time with "missionaries!"

The "God the mother" bit made me think they were Mormons at first. Which surprised me because they seem to like to keep that on the down low.

How does the EOC deal with this question?

RKO, sorry for adding to the off topic posts. As far as I understood what you were asking, I think Rus summed up my thoughts well. There are degrees of correct thought and practice. The evidence of how correct a particular group is, can be seen from their background and their fruit, imo. If...

How does the EOC deal with this question?

I'll bite. Yesh, I have refrained from commenting on most posts you're involved in because I was afraid my frustration with you would cause me to be uncharitable. However, you have in the past responded to inquirers with information decidedly UN-Orthodox. Off the top of my head, the "New...

    I need some advice

This popped up on my fb feed, I thought it was timely. TrailLifeUSA.com There is a write up on the Orthodoxnet.com blog about it. I was in the GSA, all of my male cousins have been or are currently Scouts. All of them making Eagle scout by 14, BSA is big with us. My husband and I will not...

    Ghosts

This. This is a heavy book. I read it when I was 18 while studying at a convent in Greece. I'm *very* thankful I had wise people to field questions for me.

    married priests

I have to third (?) this. I have received so much encouragement from her. They make an outstanding team, I couldn't imagine not having the whole family. Not to mention the practical (and so wise) advice regarding the upbringing of children in a pious Orthodox home. We are truly blessed.

    orthodoxy and Anglicanism are similar?

My family (our whole parish, actually) came into the Orthodox church from the Episcopalian church back in 1992. At the time different issues were rocking the church and our priest led us out. That diocese was, and is, one of the most conservative in the country. My former Episcopalian bishop is...

    Orthodox Homeschool

Ugh. SORRY! That is not the correct link. I looked it up again. RaphaelschoolDOTorg It is an Orthodox online homeschooling program by the AOCA. Hey, whatever works for your family! Right now, I can deal with slapping everything together myself. I have a five-year-old and a...

    Orthodox Homeschool

I just heard about this: raphaelschoolDOTorg (I don't have enough posts to place an unbroken link) It's not really up my alley. I'm not a fan of the "school at home" home schooling method. However, if a boxed all-in-one curriculum works best for your family, this might be a great option. They...

Christians and Libertarians -- Washington Post article

St. John Chrysostom says : Sounds pretty Libertarian to me. I don't understand how "shoving wickedness in a closet" will change the heart of man. Who gave me the authority to dictate what is and is not correct to anyone but myself and my children? If I have that authority now, who will have it...

    Orthodoxy and Libertarianism

Just curious, but does everyone here understand the difference between Objectivism and Libertarianism? Also, the different schools of economics? I'm seeing a lot of confusion. I'd like to point out that no man made system is perfect, obviously. Just because a platform has a stance on something...
