I have excessive fear and worry about a lot of things as well so I can understand where you are coming from. Sometimes it's hard to find serenity. Focusing on the Word of God does help and trying to do things you need to do or enjoy doing to gear your thoughts in another direction.

I think purpose and meaning of life are supposed to help motivate us to be our best and to want to grow and learn more. Purpose and meaning of life with a spiritual inclination or devotion makes it more meaningful and powerful.

I agree with Aibrean. Maybe the lady has some sort of problems herself and that's why she is saying these things and acts like this.

I always tell them I'm a Christian and have my faith, thank you. But I don't think there is anything wrong with having that book.
