There's no way to prove or disprove it the same way fatalism cannot be proven or disprove scripturally. In fact, the New Testament has got to be the worst guidebook ever. Leviticus was black and white, not vague and flowery.

They think they have knowledge that they are saved. Having that knowledge may as well be a feeling. "You know you have eternal life" makes them think that they now know they are going to Heaven with 100% absolute certainty. They feel saved now.

My childhood church's theology was largely centered on 1 John 5:13. If you do not feel saved, you are not saved. I cannot go to Heaven according to them. Salvation = Feeling

I think it means assurance, but I don't see how it means one's feelings determine one's salvation. That would contradict Ephesians 2:8.

I think they all believe 1 John 5:13 is addressed to them. 'You' in that verse is whoever is reading it. Who was Paul writing to?
