I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
Donald Trump built up his base on doing the exact opposite of what that verse instructs us to do. For years he devoted himself to disrespecting and undermining the authority of President Obama. He did this to stir up division, loudly. Never in his life has he behaved himself in a peaceful and quiet manner in all godliness and holiness.
The prayer is for all people not just the highest among us. On account of Donald's actions this past week alone innocent folks have lost their lives, suffered, are now in a constant state of fear. Do you think Donald prayed for them while he was out enjoying himself playing a round of golf at taxpayer expense?
The whistleblowers who've brought to the light what Donald has done in the dark are also to be prayed for, not attacked.
I've often thought of Acts 5:38 when Donald instigates attacks on folks, verbally and otherwise. I'm grateful for others who've held positions of authority such as John Brennan standing up to him on behalf of all the folks who can't.
