The difficulty I have with your assessment of Revelation 18 being about The Catholic Church is that you are layering the text with a level of meaning and specifically therefore effectively adding to the text. In context, if one was to suggest it was about the body of believers I might understand that it refers to the (one holy) catholic (and apostolic) church (as in the one we all believe in in the Nicene Creed). Given the specifics of the nature of the genre we call apocalyptic writing I could not make that assessment with any confidence that such a meaning was what the writer, or indeed God would have me understand in the passage.

@Trumpeter2 Do you believe in Jesus Christ of Nazareth the Messiah foretold in the Old testaments, whose way was prepared by John The Baptist whom Jesus himself called the Elias? Am sorry I don't know about the name of the christ you penned down

@ugandan lakwat I write to you this day as a man moved by The Spirit of God, and what I write this day is according to the understanding received by that same Spirit, which is in The Messiah YahuShua, whom you call Jesus and Christ, our Lord and Savior... With the hopes that you might come into the fullness of God’s truth, which is manifest through the person of The Messiah who became man, “God with us”, called from the womb of the virgin, being called of God, Himself, Immanu El, who also was named among men by the name above all names, at which being spoken of every knee shall bow, even all those on the earth, under the earth and those in Heaven... For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, whose name God gave Him, YahuShua, The Messiah. And even YahuShua, Himself, thought it not robbery to make Himself equal with God, being, Himself, God in the flesh, as God had spoken it in all the Holy Scriptures... Even to John, who wrote: “In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was with God, and The Word was God. The Same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. And The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of The Father) full of grace and truth.”

Hi @Philip_B what do you mean with the where you're talking about the layering of text adding effective meaning to it? Taking it out of context perhaps?

Dear @Trumpeter2 , reading all this I suppose you're saying you're not belonging to any of the denominations known to man?
Or do I still not understand correctly what you're trying to say?
Regards Ries

@riesie what I am saying is that determining specific meaning to apocalyptic (the genre that Revelation belongs to) writing is problematic at best. It is not so much taking it out of context as possibly applying a context to it. It is quite a big area, however this Wikipedia article may give you a starting place.
