  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't understand why Trump is still so cozy with Russia. If he wants to broker a deal he needs the Ukraine and EU on board. This plan is DOA, perhaps serves only as propaganda to send Ukraine what they need. Germany has pledged over 10 billion to Ukraine, so I think such a surrender is still not around the corner. Ukraine is perhaps fortunate that this deal leaked.

Ukraine doesn’t have the manpower to keep the frontline. And if European nations send their own, they’re not gonna have Article 5 guarantees. The most shocking of it all is that Trump is acting in a self preserving manner.

I hope that instead of trying to undermine the President of the United States in brokering a successful peace agreement that Americans can get together to support peace. Putin does not want peace, he want Ukraine. He has seen before the undermining of U.S. resolve to stand up to dictators by working through the universities and American educational system. Putin has seen the weakness in the E. U. as well. By starting the process Trump can show the world Putin's true intentions.
By letting Russia have what it wants in Ukraine. How clever!

He brought peace in the between Azerbaijan and Albania conflict, despite them never fighting and being 1,000 kilometres from each others borders. ^_^
No, it is a conflict involving the ancient Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh fighting for their homeland against Azerbaijan. The deal Trump helped negotiate wasn’t that great for the Armenians but there were few options. Middle Eastern Christians always end up on the short end.

25,000 dead soldiers just last month. Joe Biden said he would permit a small incursion and there have been over a million casualties, many civilians.
Trump is doing what no Democrat, no person, has been able to do and that is getting the two countries to negotiate for peace. Everyone in the world should support such humanitarian efforts. Russia and Ukraine may or may not come to an agreement, that is up to their leaders, but at least Trump is putting forth the effort.

So it is not valid in your eyes because the two are not directly negotiating with each other? People are dying every day!

Donald Trump said on Sunday there was a “good chance” of a deal to end the war in Ukraine after the latest US negotiations with Kyiv, as his special envoy prepares to travel to Russia for follow-up talks.

Some liberals are acknowledging Trump's successes:
With Charlie Sheen on board in addition to your existing roster that includes Pete Hegseth and Ronny Jackson, it seems that you guys have the drug & sex addict vote locked up.

No.

Would you have another country ceded American territory after tens of thousands of Americans shed blood defending it?

That we know of. The press doesn't always get told everything that's currently going on.
No, there isn't. We've seen the demands coming from Russia and the continued strikes on civilians. They aren't negotiating right now anything with Ukraine.

We have no idea what's going on behind closed doors.

EU tells Trump: You can’t pardon Putin for war crimes in Ukraine

“I don’t think history will judge kindly any effort to wipe the slate clean for Russian crimes in Ukraine,” [European commissioner for justice and democracy] McGrath said. “They must be held accountable for those crimes and that will be the approach of the European Union in all of these discussions.

His comments reflect concerns widely held in European capitals that the original American blueprint for a deal included the promise of a “full amnesty for actions committed during the war,” alongside plans to reintegrate Russia into the world economy.

The Trump team’s push to rehabilitate the Kremlin chief comes despite international condemnation of Russia for alleged crimes including the abduction of 20,000 Ukrainian children and attacks targeting civilians in Bucha, Mariupol and elsewhere.

Last month, a United Nations commission found Russian authorities had committed crimes against humanity in targeting Ukrainian residents through drone attacks, and the war crimes of forcible transfer and deportation of civilians.

When has Trump ever been correct when he ‘brokered’ peace? Name one conflict he brought to a close.

"President Trump is the President of Peace. As President, he has brokered peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Cambodia and Thailand, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Pakistan, Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kosovo, and with the Abraham Accords."

"Charlie Sheen bemoaned his father Martin Sheen’s choice to attack President Donald Trump right when the president’s Gaza peace plan was getting firmed up last month."

Trump nominated a third time for Nobel Peace Prize

I would love to hear Trump give a coherent summary of the history of any one of these conflicts, to include sociopolitical reasons for the conflicts, that he supposedly “brokered “. I would also love to buy the winning powerball ticket. And let’s be honest, the winning powerball ticket is the more likely of the two.

Studying the sociopolitical root causes, as Kamala did for the immigration issue, solves nothing. There is a lot of anti-Trump feeling which I feel gets in the way of people accepting or crediting Trump with success, but what Trump has done should be studied. We saw this negativity with the tariffs right after Trump suggested what he would do. Brokering peace deals is less straightforward, but the most important factor is dealing from a position of power. The Joe Biden statement indicating he would tolerate a minor incursion by Russia ended up causing more that a million casualties. The Biden people also freed up billions of dollars to Iran, the number one backer of terrorism in the Middle East. In contrast with that, Trump made a bold more, two-fold, allowing Israel to kill Iranian scientists and then having the U.S. bomb Iranian nuclear facilities. This gained the respect of the countries involved in the Middle East and in the rest of the world. Had a progressive been elected instead and tried to broker a deal that person probably would have gone through the United Nations. In fact Trump realized the United Nations was actually part of the problem.
