He certainly seems motivated, yes. But do you really believe that someone who decides to gun down two men in broad daylight would have lived the rest of their lives as unassuming citizens had the national guard just not been deployed?

From the perps pov, yeah sooner or later something else would have triggered him.

But from the pov of the victims, this "deployment" completely unnecessarily, and possibly illegally, put them into a contentious situation.

As for the deployment, overall I think its best policy to avoid adding unnecessary contention to the world. Some unnecessary bad results are likely one way or another. Stress, anger, and division usually have to go somewhere. Tho I'd agree theres no clear causal line here.

Maybe. You’re missing my point that the Guard shouldn’t have been there at all this whole time and here we see why. People have been warning for months that this is an improper use of the National Guard. They aren’t trained in law enforcement. They’re mostly trained to respond to disasters and national emergency type situations. Using them like props around the city carries a certain risk and this is one of them. They’ve been needlessly put in danger all for the optics of military occupying our streets.

According to the above article, the assailant drove from the state of Washington across the United States, to Washington DC to carry out this attack.

According to the article cited above, he was deeply troubled by the death of his friend by the Taliban.

His friend had been denied asylum by President Trump.

I'm thinking that this could have been an attempt on the life of POTUS, if that opportunity presented itself.
