  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Many ask by what authority was Ellen White writing and who gave it to her? There are many in the church today which will not accept anything writing by her and will fight against it as we see with Ryan Day, and we can see the results. Ryan Day Departs 3ABN, Launches ‘Re-Think Adventism’ - Spectrum Magazine

He states that many members and leaders have this same view but keep it hidden much like he did till he was caught questioning what she said as not from scripture.

So did Ellen White do her writings out of 'self' or from her own human thoughts and ideas, and we can lay it aside. What is the true origin of what has been spread across many books and how did she come to that understanding. If it wasn't from herself, by what authority was EGW writing/saying these things from and who gave it to her?

I don't think you can read her writings and come away with the idea that she wasn't divinely inspired, unless you have preconceived notions that you insert into the mix. Keep in mind that there is a sifting going on.

“‘God is sifting his people. He will have a clean and holy church. We cannot read the heart of man. But the Lord has provided means to keep the church pure. A corrupt people has arisen who could not live with the people of God. They despised reproof, and would not be corrected. They had an opportunity to know that their warfare was an unrighteous one. They had time to repent of their wrongs; but self was too dear to die. They nourished it, and it grew strong, and they separated from the trusting people of God, that he was purifying unto himself. We all have reason to thank God that a way has been opened to save the church; for the wrath of God must have come upon us, if these corrupt individuals had remained with us. { LS80 316.1 }
“‘Every honest one that may be deceived by these disaffected ones, will have the true light in regard to them, if every angel from Heaven has to visit them, and enlighten their minds. We have nothing to fear in this matter. As we near the Judgment all will manifest their true character, and it will be made plain to what company they belong. The sieve is moving. Let us not say, Stay thy hand, O God. The church must be purged, and will be. God reigns; let the people praise him. I have not the most distant thought of sinking down. I mean to be right and do right. The Judgment is to set and the books be opened, and we are to be judged according to our deeds. All the falsehoods that may be framed against me will not make me any worse, nor any better, unless they have a tendency to drive me nearer my Redeemer.’ { LS80 316.2 }

Yes, the prophesized shaking, but to see so many leaving still is heart wrenching. But soon many will fill their places with much joy and gladness filling their hearts...

Does the present say Sda leadership see her as being inspired by the Holy Spirit in regards to her teachings on the scriptures? To having the infallible and correct view in understanding the bible?
That one cannot be a Pastor nor teacher if disagree with her on any teaching of the bible then?

It's a fundamental question asked by people in every age any time they are dealing with someone making the claim of receiving messages from God.

Whether that person is a false prophet, or a Bible writer or someone like Aggabus in the book of Acts who writes no scripture at all but has prophetic messages.

officially - yes
To having the infallible and correct view in understanding the bible?
she is not claimed to be infallible. It is only as the Holy Spirit directs her that it is tested for true inspiration
That one cannot be a Pastor nor teacher if disagree with her on any teaching of the bible then?
There are many unpublised letters etc where she expressed views and pastors are not required to affirm everything she ever wrote in a letter to a friend or relative or said at the breakfast table.

was she ever wrong in any of her testimonies or commentaries or writings?
Can a Sda disagree with her on any of her teachings and docrines ?
And are all of her offical dictrines and teaching all binding to sda?

Was she in the office of a prophet, inspired to give writing and teachings same as the NT Apostles of Christ?
