On Monday, my father is scheduled to have open heart surgery. Please pray for a successful surgery, a complete and fast recovery, and for good decisions to be made by the family and all involved medical people during this time.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Prayers for your father and his medical team. May God guide them and that your father have a smooth recovery. May God reveal His peace and presence during this time and lay His healing hand on all of you, body, mind, soul, and spirit.

Lord God I lift up Sketcher's father to You right now and I pray for a miracle in his situation, I pray for the complete restoration of his health! I pray that the surgery would be successful and there would be a swift and complete recovery! No pain in the name of Jesus! I pray for wisdom for the family and also all doctors and surgeons! I pray for Your hand of blessing to be upon the entire family! Thank You God!

The surgery was reported successful. He is out of ICU now and in rehab, not home yet. Thank you for the prayers, and continue to pray for healing and good rehab. Standard recovery time is 8-12 weeks.

Update: the date he was to go home has been postponed, as he has intermittently had bouts of low blood pressure in rehab. They are attempting to correct this with medication, but he never had this problem before the surgery. Please pray that this will right itself and that he will not have to depend on medication to correct this long-term.

Update: Dad had been doing well, but today I learned of reports that he had blood in his urine and that ceasing to take one of the medications he is on, a blood thinner, apparently helped with that aspect of it. Calls and appointments have been made, but pray for his healing and for the doctors to know what's really going on and to make the right call.
