  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — John Cooper, lead singer of the Grammy-nominated rock group Skillet, addressed what he sees as a troubling silence in the Church on critical issues such as Marxism and the evolving language of social justice movements and identified signs churches are capitulating to secular humanism.

In an interview with The Christian Post at the GMA Dove Awards, Cooper, who also hosts the "Cooper Stuff" podcast and is known for his outspokenness on faith and culture, said he’s concerned by some of the dangerous ideologies he's seen creep into the Church in recent years.

“I’m seeing a lot of Marxism and its offshoots,” the 49-year-old singer said, citing Critical Race Theory and “ideologies break us into groups — white Christians, black Christians, women Christians, men Christians.”

I have seen this as well. Unfortunately, I do believe John Cooper's observations there are spot on.

One thing he seems to say is that churches can avoid politics, saying there should be separation of church and state. Of course, this is connected with how ones might interpret the Constitution . . . not how they understand the Bible.

One problem with getting into politics, I maybe am seeing, is how certain members are not emotionally in shape for handling issues of politics. One can get into judging and condemning a politician and feeling his/her welfare depends on the politician and the politician is possibly going to ruin the person's life > that is not depending on God, possibly. It can be making oneself "God". And one doing this can have various emotional problems and inability to listen while others are talking . . . not obeying how James says to relate >

"swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God." (in James 1:19-20)

People can let politics get power over them, to get their attention away from Jesus and submitting to Him in His "rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:29). They can get tangled, in the politics, which is not how God's word says to do things with Him >

"No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier." (2 Timothy 2:4)

"All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." (in 1 Corinthians 6:12)

Ones can be "under the power of" things they want to get by means of politics. And so, because they are not first seeking all God desires to do with us, they can be in weakness so they can have deep problems while they are struggling with political stuff and trying to control evil people.

And I have noted how in churches ones are not praying with love for enemies, like Jesus clearly says to do. But they are only making a project, even, of judging and criticizing wrong leaders, not obeying how we are commanded 'first of all" to pray with love and hope and blessing "for" all people >

"Therefore I exhort first of all that prayers, supplications, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence." (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

I have listened to a few episodes of John Cooper's podcasts and also read the interviews he has done on Christianpost.com and other websites. John Cooper takes strong moral stands against the immorality in American culture. He agrees that once was once seen as abnormal and immoral has become politically and culturally acceptable in the USA. In my opinion, I truly doubt that Cooper would object to churches and pastors speaking out concerning this.

We do need to point out what is wrong so we and our children know right from wrong. But, as I mean, we need to do this the right way so we are spiritually and emotionally sound and relating the way God's word says to share as His family and be all-loving toward any and all enemies.

And . . . as you maybe have already read that I have been offering > I see how there has been very wrong stuff going on and on in the United States for quite some time . . . not what we see now, but other stuff has been treated like it is even great stuff. That even got stopped, and now we see the stuff we see now.

Stop this, and will the evil stop???? There can be other inventions.

But I consider there could be more than this. All along, I think, there have been underlying sins which have been even accepted in America, and these have helped to keep people weak and foolish so now their children could become how we see now.

anger > James 1:19-20 < not really what Americans have been making a project of stopping

arguing and complaining > Philippians 2:13-16 < such anti-love stuff has ruined many people from knowing how to relate in love; and children of parents who do not know how to love can get into really crazy and desperate things in order to feel some sort of acceptance and affection and pleasure

beauty discrimination > God is no respecter of persons > 1 Peter 3:4 < but it seems it has been cultural for Americans on and on to favor more beautiful people, and this can keep us from being all-loving with Jesus, and in weak love not all-loving we can keep giving in to cruel and dominating emotions and drives for pleasure.

My concern is how it can seem to me that preachers are so busy with pointing at the gay stuff and political dishonesty and abortion and whatever else is popular now to point at and blame someone else. Meanwhile, the culturally accepted sins which I mention above have a way of continuing so they can keep people deeply weak and ruined from real loving. And then in their desperation we see the things younger *products* of these sins can invent.

Ones seem quite upset at the products of their sins which are not obviously being confronted.
