  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Political commentator Tucker Carlson recently claimed the FBI has apparently degenerated into an "anti-Christian secret police force," and excoriated House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., for not doing more about it despite claiming to be a Christian.

Speaking during an interview this week on the Tucker Carlson Network with Daily Caller editorial director and Washington, D.C.-area radio host Vince Coglianese, Carlson claimed that federal law enforcement seems to have become politicized, which they both agreed is a dangerous development.

Most definitely. We have heard of the secret spying and investigations into certain Christian organisations. We have seen the Lawfare being used by the Left against conservative voices. How the State and its agents side with anti Christian ideology. How they compromise our institutional standards to manipulate power to push their agenda.

Today being a Christian is in conflict with the new States religion of identity ideology where people are categorized into good and evil identity groups. Christians are at the top of the evil identity groups that now cause hatred and division simply for speaking the Gospel or praying in public.

When Christian groups become overly politicized the lines get blurred.
The most saintly president to ever occupy the Oval Office, Jimmy Carter, recognized that when the Evangelical Religious Right came into being. Recognizing that you cannot serve God and mammon, his Plains, GA church left the Southern Baptist Convention.
Churches should be non-partisan lobbyists. They should preach about ideals and issues--not parties and candidates.
If they preach the whole, entire Gospel, their members will recognize no party or candidate will be a perfect match. Their members will pray and follow their consciences as voters.
Christianity is not threatened today, but the encroachment of religio-political groups sometimes cross horns with government.
For their political actions--not their sadly selective interpretation of the Gospel.

Best I recall from the time, the issue with the SBC was the ordination of women. That's what I recall in a somewhat publicized statement about the Carters leaving the SBC . Such is the cluelessness of reporters that they apparently didn't realize the only way for an individual to "leave" the SBC is to join a non-SBC church. Either the Carter's church left the SBC or was never a part of the SBC and the Carters changed membership. Don't know. It was their business, not mine.

That's what you've defined as "mammon."

Since Fox News fired Carlson, he seems to be getting more and more extreme. I guess one gets used to all that attention, and it's hard to let it go.

He's definitely going down rabbit holes but I blame the government.

If they hadn't lost their minds I'm pretty sure most people would never have seen a rabbit, let alone a rabbit hole.

At this point this government needs to cool it and start being normal.

The law that the FBI has to follow, is still the same fair rule of
law that all American citizens have to follow.

I don't think that Tucker Carlson, who is up to his neck in
conspiracy theories, is in any position to make assertions
about who is "anti-Christian", as apposed to who is simply
embracing felonious activity, in the name of being Christian.

For orthodox Christians, embracing conspiracy theories is the same as
promoting gossip, or promoting bearing false witness about our
shared reality.
