  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Tim Walz Said He Wants To Ban Guns He ‘Carried in War.’ He Never Saw Combat.

Exactly. The point is whether CNN or Fox or TYT or People interviews Thomas Behrends, it's not going to change what he has to say about Walz.
Apparently because I, a conservative, linked to Fox, it makes the comments untrustworthy regardless of who said what and when.

If it was on Fox, it didn’t happen. Even if there’s video.

If it's on Fox, any reasonable viewer(s) 'arrive with an appropriate amount of skepticism..'
This could be right. I guess there could be some source out there that shows this guy’s comments are faked or taken out of context.

In reality that applies to most news media outlets in general.
That's true, but as far as I know FOX is the only network to make that claim about themselves in the courtroom.

Ah I didn't realize that was a quote, even though you made it clear enough.

He's no man of honor. He bailed on his honor when he quit as soon as he discovered he was going to have to fight.

No he actually is guilty of stolen honor.
"Do not pretend to be something that you’re not," Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, and former President Trump’s running mate, said this week. Vance is a Marine Corps veteran.
"I’d be ashamed if I was saying that I lied about my military service like you did," he said.

It's the people who are spreading this...ordure who are treating you as if you were an imbecile. The guy was making a promise to help improve gun laws. I mean, the guy isn't blowing smoke. He's about as genuine on this matter as he could possibly be, to the point of donating the donations he received from the NRA to a charity connected to the Las Vegas massacre.

Now you might not like what he wants to do. But trying to nitpick the type of weapons he used or the army was using when he referred to those type of guns needing to be controlled is preposterous.
When the cynical becomes the norm, (“‘all politicians are liars and self serving’”, yet somehow our politicians are ‘better‘ than the other side’s politicians because [stuff].” (This “works“ for both sides, mind.)
For some that’s as deep as it goes, that’s all that they need (if not capable of), and that’s fine, except when one champions the argument like some talisman against people playing the same political “game” but with more of an underpinning that isn’t really possible with populism, which the Trump-era is/was.

He wasn't doing that.

He might have committed a crime by claiming he carried weapons in war (remember he said weapons he carried in war) which is claiming to be a combat veteran in order to seem more impressive than he is.

And then, instead of an actual policy proposal "I will work with Congress to ban x real gun, it's a core part of our policy agenda" he promises to ban guns that are already illegal. .

This is a guy running a popularity contest, not a political campaign, and he's laying down a bed of lies, serious ones at that.
Bad grammar was the only excuse that Walz could come up with? o_O

This will finish him.
From what I read. He had to carry. As far as I know. He's not trying to take guns away from people in the military or police people, that have desk duty.

"Tim Walz blamed his “grammar” for falsely claiming to carry “weapons of war in war” in his first interview as vice presidential candidate Thursday . . ."

The Daily Beast is considered to have reporting from the left and here is their analysis from days ago about Walz "carrying.".

So I guess the question is, can a college educated man who was once a teacher get away with the "I'm just a hick with no command of the English language" excuse?

I'm not giving it to him... I've seen my husband play dumb hillbilly too, it's a fun excuse when one needs to fall on something or you want your opponent to underestimate you... But it's also only true in the minds of the ignorant.

Nope. Walz knows exactly what he's doing and saying.

That is unconstitutional.
