  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not agreeing with an act or calling it sinful or wrong isn’t being prejudiced.

Nor is it shaming anyone.

Be blessed
The prejudice starts when people discuss laws to regulate/outlaw aspects of their life, or give them different rights, or act like they are lesser than you are.

We get it. Male on male sex grosses you out. Having the ick is not a valid reason for being prejudiced towards people. You do plenty of sinful things, I don’t see you volunteering to have fewer rights or less respect for it. In fact, you demand more.

A lot of gay/bi men are infected with monkey pox and continue to sleep around and cheat on each other at an alarming rate.

The LGBT activists want the public want to think they’re just like clean, regular folk.

Yeah right.

Filthiest lifestyle there is.
A lot? There are 13.9 million gay people in the US. 30k contracted Mpox. That’s .28%.

And, again, because some people give you the ick doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with them. People used to think black persons were unclean people from filthy lifestyles.

As far as the cheating goes, 20% of heterosexual marriages deal with infidelity. Most people marry having had more than one sexual partner. Sounds like everybody has a filthy lifestyle.

So ultimately there should be no social consequence for promiscuity. Interesting.

I didn't say that, Ignatius... It's just I believe that if the Lord wants to arrange instances of corporal punishment to be meted out upon the shameful masses, I'm sure He'll provide the political advantage for those occasions when it suits Him to do so, and He'll do so without requiring very much of our help, if any.

In the meantime, our "social incorrectness" should simply be to encourage and exhort those outside the Church to consider the truth and salvation that is found in turning to Jesus.

It’s sick. I think my son is too young to learn about these things right now, but I plan to teach him that relationships/marriage should only be between a man and a woman, and that one's gender is determined at birth, boys can’t be girls and vice versa.
Keep your son out of public schools, or send him to a conservative public school.

If shame is impermissable then there are no vo sequences for immoral sexual behavior period.

And what consequences do you have in mind, Ignatius? As far as I can tell, Paul wasn't going into numerous cities during his three missionary journeys dolling out "consequences" left and right to non-Christians everywhere in the Greek world. However, he did have some harsh things to say occasionally to Christians in various churches, especially those at Corinth.

Well let's take promiscuity as a means for rejecting romantic relationships and marriage with certain people. Is it legitimate for a man to reject a woman who was promiscuous as a suitable partner? That said woman should feel some shame for her actions?

Just so we're clear. You reject Christian sexual norms then?
I don’t think the Christian sexual norm is that consensual sex is wrong, nor do I think it’s not Christian to say that sex is fun.

I don’t think sodomy should be illegal because you can’t enforce that.

You’re right. I do plenty of sinful things, but I don’t scream and demand people accept or approve of it.

So the Christian standard is that sex is okay as long as it is consensual? This is your position?

Being black and sodomy are not the same. One is the race you cannot choose.

Are you saying most married couples have multiple partners and you advocate for that? Odd.

Again, you brought up victims, not me.

If people get infections because of their behavior, or experience any other consequence related to their own personal choices, they’ll get the treatment they need for it and move on with life.
So that makes it right to infect others? Okey doke.

I will. Fortunately, the school he’s in at the moment seems to be fine and I’ve had no issues yet. My main concern is about when he goes to secondary school. There’s a nearby Catholic secondary school that I plan to apply to when the time comes. Unlike in the US, our church schools here are state-funded rather than private. They can prioritise admission based on faith, but they are also required to admit a certain number of kids from other faiths or no faith. I’m really hoping he will get in.

Send him to the Catholic school. Even if that means your son converts to Catholicism. Anything to keep him out of the woke stuff. Anglicans and Catholics are practically brothers. :) It is cool how the UK has state-funded churches. Which part of the UK are you guys in?

Yeah, I don’t mind if he does convert to Catholicism and I’d rather he attend a school that upholds Christian values. Yeah, I want to protect him from all the woke ideology. I’m originally from Wales but now live in Portsmouth, which is on the south coast of England. Where are you from? :)

Of course it's legitimate for any Christian person to refuse to engage another person in courtship/dating if the other person has a big 'O un-repentant sexual history .........................................

That said woman should feel some shame for her actions?

I'd assume that anyone who follows Christ would feel some shame for his/her own sexual impropriety. That sort of goes without saying since it's already been said in the New Testament (and the Old), and throughout Christian history, many times over.
